D&D 5E Rogue and Archer Character Sheets

I wish they'd just post the dang armor chart already. Its wildly different from the Playtest and I want to see what it looks like...

Wait...

Hey @grimshwiz, what's the armor table in the starter look like?

Looks a little like that.

Everyone take a deep breath.

It's more likely plate armor just isn't in the Starter Set than it is that WotC removed plate armor from the game.

Breathe.

It's hard to ragequit if you aren't breathing.

Thaumaturge.

EDIT: I read this wrong, and thought you were encouraging people to ragequit, which was pretty amusing to me.

Thanks. The breathing helped.

BUT WHERE IS PL....

[Inhaled deeply, exhales slowly]

I'm fine, really.

I have to say, I enjoy the many options 4E has, and am skeptical about 5e. The Archer made me think about that. I do not waxy to detail the conversation, but the two fighters look boring to me. Do we think there will be much to do other than stand and fight, or should I stock to wizards?
1) It's the characters from Basic 5e
2) There are more complex classes/builds, but those are in the PHB
3) The fighters has traditionally been pretty simple
4) 5e has a simpler combat system than 4e

Basic 5e is just that, pretty basic. It's for a quick game you can teach just about anybody in minutes, and if somebody wants a character that's simple to play, give them a Fighter. You get a bit more complexity with the Rogue, and the Cleric/Wizard on a tier above that again. I am guessing you would want to play a Wizard in basic.

If you want to play a complex fighter, you should probably wait for the PHB where you get additional fighter builds and you can take feats instead of stat gains. It probably won't feel like the 4e fighter, but it will be a lot closer. If you really loved 4e, just continue playing it. 5e isn't an upgrade to 4e, it's just another edition of D&D that was published later.

It's hard to afford plate levels 1-5, so likely dropped for space considerations.

Disadvantage on saves, ability checks, attacks and no spells when not proficient with armor. Is that new?

No speed penalty listed. Doesn't mean its not there, but could very well have been dropped in favor of "simply" allowing encumbrance to do it (ie you either ignore encumbrance and therefore no penalty, or you use encumbrance and any penalties from it)
