D&D 5E 5e's underwhelming releases

Are people really thinking an OGL will lead to a plethora of great adventures for 5e? I assume the ones who do are forgetting what the original OGL produced in terms of dross:diamond ratio - or even dross:"might be worth a try" ratio.

Edit: Note to self, don't have two tabs open when you're commenting on the OGL in one and the OSR in another - too easy to confuse the acronyms.

Yeah I think sometimes people forget about the glut of awful product, but then again, an open market at least allows for possibilities. Also, one person's dross may be a diamond for someone else.

because a few companies are banking on being able to use the 3e one and just 'retroclone' 5e, but a lot of companies are not sure enough or willing to risk the wraith of a lawsuit...

I don't think anyone is afraid of anything so dramatic or exciting as 'wrath!!!' -- more just that we prefer to be nice to each other, and that generally means we don't do stuff that other folks don't want us to do yet. Just good manners, and a small industry where everybody knows each other.

Because the Ghost of GSLs Past still rattles its chains.

People are waiting to see where the market goes with 5e, success or not.

Plus business is still booming with OGL material for PF and not everyone has the time to divide their resources between two systems.

Plus people are being polite and rather than rigging something by the 3.x OGL they're waiting for WotC to come out with whatever license they will (or won't).

Combination of the above.

ok, I may have been over dramatic, but does that mean in your mind The companies going forward earlier (goodman, and the frog god) are being the reverse of 'having good manors' witch is to say rude?

I know I'll be boo'd off the stage, but I'll just say it: I'm hoping for more player content to be released. Not the obvious bloat from 3.5, mind you. But as a player, I like more options and more ways to customize my characters. If WotC only focuses on AP's and monster manuals, I think they'll end up losing a good deal of money from those of us who are strictly players.

I agree. I would like to see options for those tables that want them. The one thing I think the DMG and 5e could have done better is be more explicit about the supposed basic/standard/advanced modes of the game because already on EN world there are legitimate differences over whether particular people want to include feats, multiclassing etc because of various issues, including the power of these additonal game elements. I think being explicit makes sense because good fences make good neighbours kind of thing. Maybe it would also be interesting to see adventures that are explicitly basic (like the mine of Phandelver) and those that a more elaborate or complicated (advanced).
