D&D 5E Can you like both 5e and Pathfinder?

Yes, you can love both of them, but they're very different beasts which may appeal to very different tasts, and hating one of them is a perfectly valid point of view.

Is it? Isn't hatred too strong a point of view regarding a RPG variant? I can understand preference. I can understand "not my cup of tea". But hate, over a version of D&D? Not so sure that's valid. Generally hate is an emotion served for things which cause actual harm to people.

I run both games.

Yes. I like them both. I'm tired of Pathfinder. Been playing it a long time. I'd love to see a new Pathfinder streamlined and gutted of all the strange rules that lead to sickening combinations that players expect to be able to use as they hold DMs hostage to the text of the rule.

THIS! I would prefer to run Pathfinder with even more fixes than 3.5 and the current Pathfinder. Some things are wayyyy off. I think 5e is a little simplistic, but I find it amazingly appealing since there are not 500 books out for it. My players use the Pathfinder SRD with all its rules (not the one with 3pp stuff, the main one) and at times some things are still really overpowered.

Yeah. It's just a game. I don't like 4e, but no one is putting a gun to my head to play it. I don't hate it. Not even close. I just don't play it.

Totally and in all other ways INCONCEIVABLE!!! If a Pathfinder fan picks up a 5E book or vice versa then he/she will suffer 2D12 burn damage PER ROUND!!!

Its the TROOF!!! I swear!!

I said despise PF but that is just a term. Obviously I don't despise a game in the same way I may despise a person who has done something bad to me.
