The campaign staff is always on the lookout for new reward ideas. I have suggested a cert that lets you play a restricted race (say genasi) regardless of story origin. Things like that might appear in the future. Just because a feature is behind the story origin wall doesn't mean there won't be ways around it in future. No promises however.

Hopefullt said certs will be available to the average player, rather than put behind a wall that would cost me abou three week's pay to climb.

The other advantage to doing 'blended' options via certificate is because, since certs are relatively rare and you can't be certain of getting one, the optimization community doesn't find much benefit in doing the analysis on combinations that can only be played via cert.

It's kind of like if randomly vaccinating 5% of the population gave everybody immunity from necrotizing fasciitis.

Pauper, you're assuming that the CharOp community is primarily made of AL players. Pretty much every player option available has been reviewed by the CharOp guides. Remember that we're the minority group within the larger D&D community. Optimization of cert-blocked options just requires a little research into the guides that already exist.

Sure, your typical AL player may scroll past them, but your optimizer is going to ingest all available info, regardless of immediate usability. Nothing is truly locked away forever.

Minor Update Regarding Inheritor Equipment
Untitled.jpg

By extension, Inheritors (and custom characters which take the Inheritor equipment choice) which choose alternate tool proficiency's would replace the musical instrument/gaming set with the chosen tool(s).
  • For Example: An Inheritor which chooses proficiency with Thieves' Tools and Disguise Kits (instead of the default language and musical instrument/gaming set) would have a set of Thieves' Tools and a Disguise Kit as part of their starting equipment.

Also am I correct in saying that a character can't change starting seasons? But they still could take the new book over the EE if they had the EE starting season?

Keep in mind that the certs aren't necessarily all tied to the con; they're tied to the admins that possess them. I have given certs to DMs at a smaller local convention where it literally cost them nothing but their time and however much they paid for parking.

Correct. When rebuilding your character, you cannot change your characters name, or story origin. EE characters must choose between the options in the EEPC/PotA and those in SCAG. They cannot choose both.
