D&D General Do you allow "crossplaying" at your table? Has it ever caused problems?

I’ve had it at my table, the only issue has been with pronouns. When your looking at a guy its hard to remember to say “her” in reference to the character...but that’s about it
The biggest difficulty I've had recently was getting used to a "they/them" pronoun for a character who was nonbinary. Just like in real life, I've gotten used to seeing gender as a singular trait. Working with it in roleplaying helps me practice when I don't want to mess up in reality.

I'm reminded of the time I was playing Pathfinder at a con and the one dude says he's playing a female pole-dancer bard, and pulls out a miniature to match. Like, really?

But generally, it's a non-issue at my own tables. Way back in the day, there was some immature nonsense from time to time with this, but we were immature ourselves.
Wait. Was it like a cool quarter staff multi class monk bard at least?!?

I fear the day I have to remember a made up one like Xir. I mean to get them right but my head does not always remember.

It has never occurred to mr that it might be a problem. I've run games where plenty of players were playing characters of the opposite sex. I've played characters of the opposite sex. I've never encountered a GM who would object to such a thing. It's never ever been a problem for any game I've been in.

I did once play in a game where another player wanted to play as a futanari. The GM shut that down as something he did not want to deal with, which....yeah, fair.

I had been her GM for a while and knew she had a tendency to play over-the-top hypersexualized characters, but that's a whole other issue.

Finally, a use for the ten-foot pole!

Though I've heard stories from my current group about previous players getting weird, it's never been an issue in any games I've been in or run over the years, other than the occasional player/pc pronoun confusion others have mentioned. In each of two different games I'm currently in, there's one character with a gender that doesn't correspond to the player's (one PC is my own.)

One thing I have noticed, using online tools during the pandemic, is that's not so much an issue when there's a picture (and often a name) representing the PC that everyone is looking at instead of the face of the player.
