Cleric Won't Heal?

So more peeps got back to me (but thread got derailed into 2 old friends joking about 2e days when they were both less mature)

but the general consensus is that a player that starts with “I won’t heal you until you fall over” sounds like a problem player and we have removed so many problems over the years. We want to all have fun relax and work togather it does not sound like this player is down for the work togather part (to us). However one of the big ways we have to deal with this as a group is the ability for all to have an equal say in approving each other’s concepts...
The cleric yesterday said something like.

"I'm not healing you unless you fall over".

Okay so here is the post I just made on our face book group for Tuesday night game (bonus 2 players not currently able to play are still in group so we will get MORE responses)

Hypothetically, on character creation night, one person has a concept that works well as a cleric, but they don't intend to spend much time healing - just some clutch healing if needed.
Do you believe it is selfish to then turn around and during play always ask this player to heal?

No, I think it'd be being willfully stupid.
You were told how this was going to go. What, you didn't believe them?
You didn't belive them the 2nd. 3rd. 4th. 5th etc times you asked?

Right and again this is why my group tries to get everyone on the same page and happy on char gen night. That way we don’t have problems in play.

heck 1/2 the time even the 1st session is more us just telling a story about how we meet and we don’t really start adventure until 2nd half of that night or sometimes 2nd session.

so again. This problem would not come up at my table as presented. However when I said that people told me it was selfish that we all get to weigh in on and vote or veto concepts we don’t think would be fun to play with... exactly so this problem doesn’t come up

Wouldn't bother me as I said if cleric got booted another 2 players quit.

Then you have no healing at all and no group. You don't even have emergency healing she is happy to provide.

She's the only one who took any healing at all. Just had another player join, no healing taken.

And again no one is booting anyone. Just the character concept... no one is leaving one of my games because we said not to a concept... let alone some how half the group...

Exactly.

Exactly. The party is either a team or a group of individuals. Just need to make sure everyone is onboard with how its going to work
Everyone thought this was a cool request and one player is trying to pitch me a mash up of a Roman legion meets A team to run as my next game...

Ah! If you want to have fun with the A team idea...

Everyone makes X characters they think are awesome and fun to play and useful etc.

The "team lead" then picks one character per player to "recruit" for the "A team".

For extra fun, the DM should pick 1 at random from each person's list to make the "B team" (not intelligently selected, just random). The "B team" could be a group of NPCs or even a team the PCs could play for "side stories" (like, run a game where the B team got killed, or whatever).

I meant the TV show... “if your in trouble, if no one else can help, and if you can find them you can hire the ATeam”
