Marvel Multiverse RPG Alternate Covers

Marvel has revealed some alternate covers for its upcoming Marvel Multiverse RPG (written by Matt Forbeck). The new covers are by Peach Momoko and Logan Lubera, and the standard cover is by Iban Coello.

The game uses a new "D616" system and will be released next year with a playtest book. "“… the all-new D616 System, an accessible and easy-to-learn system for newcomers to tabletop RPGs and a natural evolution for those familiar with the most popular tabletop role-playing games on the market. Use Might, Agility, Resilience, Vigilance, Ego, and Logic to win the day, and discover your true abilities as you face impossible odds!”

I find there are many similarities with the AGE system... which uses 3d6+attribute modifier, very much like D&D 5th edition (but with 3d6 instead of a d20). It also adds a stunt system that allows you to pull flashy effects when you get doubles, which could ressemble getting a 6 1 6.

Just speculating of course. But AGE is very simple and accessible which is what Marvel seems to be going for.
Still surprised Green Ronin hasn’t done SupersAGE.

I have a feeling Gambit characters would be really, really good at this game.

Also, forget d616. Where's the d666 game? Has this been overlooked?

Post script, am I seeing a familial resemblance between Hulk and the Cap'n? I wonder if the book's fluff explores this possibility.
In Nomine used a ‘d666’ mechanic.

Because they have mutants and masterminds, and self competition does not lead to a good place?
You mean like how Green Ronin had M&M and Icons? It’s not self-competition to offer different games in the same genre. Some players want light, narrative games while others want heavy, crunchy games. There’s some crossover, but not as much as people assume.

The trick is that a SupersAGE game would step onto M&M's toes in a way that Icons didn't. Also AGE just doesn't feel like a system that would be easy to modify for Supers (though to be fair - the 3e OGL d20 wasn't either, Kenson had to bascially tear the system down to its basics and then build a supers system around that, and it still took a revision before it was quite right).

(Also I strongly suspect that the only reason they published Icons at all was because of their long-term relationship with Steve Kenson and it was his pet project. They don't currently publish Icons - it's technically for sale in their store but is perpetually "out of stock".)
