D&D 5E What (if anything) do you find "wrong" with 5E?

That's not responsive to my answer to your statement. If you don't like die pool resolution, just say so, but that "faux die roll" business was just playing the dozens on the idea, not really providing any critique.
The only reason to use something like a 2d10 over a 1d20 is to lower the chance of failing which I feel defeats the point of having a dice roll in the first place.

They should have enforced opposition schools, with 2 schools of magic a wizard simply cannot not cast from. Also bring back spheres!

OK, I may be the only one who wants the latter. But it at least differentiated clerics more than what form your spirit guardians take.

raises hand I'd like to see this too.

In the game I'm currently running, I've seen the wizard trivialize encounters by casting Web, a 2nd level spell. I admit that is true.

But I have also had encounters trivialized by the fighter standing in a chokepoint and taking the dodge action for three rounds. From level 1 to level 16, he's never once felt less than very strong to me. Both characters have had their moments to shine.
One of these things is easily fixed by not having a choke point.

Or by casting web on the fighter.

Well-designed encounters should frequently have features that can be exploited in this way. It's not like the choke point is some crazy fluke that will never be repeated.

Also, I've never had every single monster make a successful saving throw against "choke point", thereby making it fizzle. The fighter might be less flashy than the wizard, but he's more reliable. Again, IMHO that's exactly the way the two classes are supposed to work.

With all the talk about casters I'll say that I hate cantrips. The idea is sound but the execution largely removed a bunch of classes from treasure tables with an auto scaling thing that never needs replacement or upgrading.
Cantrips should have been weaker but greater in number. Basic attacks cantrips should have been 1d4 and scaled slower. Utility cantrips would be one single weak effect. Magic items be the many way to upgrade cantrips. That would be the main treasure searched for by casters.

The Warlock and the Sorcerer would be the only ones with a attack cantrip that scales well from class. Warlock with Eldritch Bolt or Eldritch Strike. Sorcerer with one chosen by their bloodline. Maybe an evoker wizard or light cleric gets to blast with cantrips.

5e is really done dirty by the spell section taking up so much of the PHB.

Well, for one thing, I seriously doubt that a relationship between a human woman and a red dragon would be consensual. I REALLY doubt that a consensual relationship between evil dragons (not really known for their caring side) and enough non-dragons would result in an entire race. Thus the ickiness factor.
Dragons are shapechangers - so as far as the humanoid knows they are hooking up with another humanoid (perhaps Casanovarax likes to take human form and cruise the clubs)

also magic means conventional breeding isnt even required

Which page of the DMG is that on?

Sounds great until you realize the fighter can also fail saves.

It makes sense for a sorcerer to not rely on an external object for growing power. Even then I'm not a fan of blasting, I'd rather have proficiency with spears and do something fun with weapons.
