A Title Much Cooler Than Anything on the Old Site
I miss when toys were made for kids instead of collectors.
Amen. Also, even more I wish the toys FOR kids today were not designed to groom collectors and exploit addictive behaviors. Apps with micro transactions, collectible card games, lego randomized blister packs....

But...I can remember my parents generation complaining about all the plastic junk kids were spoiled with in the 70s and 80s and how their toys required more creative imagination. And...I expect my grandfather, who lived through the great depression, complained about spending money on toys and probably lamented how kids can't just use their imagination playing with sticks and rocks.

Now that I've shouted at the clouds about the unimaginative materialism of today's youth, please excuse me as I check on the status of the game Kickstarter projects I'm backing. :p

I DO remember that. I'm mid 40s, and I have a vivid childhood memory of my grandfather, who lived through the Depression, saying when he was a kid, "We had a piece of 2x4, and that was a truck. If we got lucky, we could nail some spools to it for wheels" (quote might not be word-for-word, it's a 40-year-old memory.)

Let's remember the crisis in the toy industry because in the last decades a lower number of children are born.
And kids are aging out of action figures at younger and younger ages; I wish I had a supportable source for this, but I know Hasbro investor meetings have presented this challenge. Adult collectors become a target demo then.

Me? I went ahead a preordered Venger and DM as soon as I could, because, "Hey, goofy fun." I'm not sure on the kids.

The cartoon has actually been tangled up in rights issues for a while. You'd think it'd be straightforward, but the cartoon was created before any mediums other than broadcast TV, cable TV and VHS were around. So all of the subsequent uses have meant elements of the cartoon have had to be renegotiated -- see the above post about the music.

The fact that WotC is using pieces of the actual cartoon is significant.
Ah that's what you meant. I thought you meant the whole Marvel Animation being owned by Disney issue that was causing problems with the rights for a little while as well. Fricking Haim Saban.

It's a two pack of essentially Marvel Legends figures. So the price is actually in line with the modern toy lines not produced by McFarlane and in line with his two packs.

eh a little of both yeah, it's the primary Marvel toy line and has been since Spider-man Legends back when the line originally launched with the movie. It's like Generations for Transformers, it's the toy line with a line also for the younger, younger crowd but yes. They aren't too pricey. Blame the Toddfather :p
