I can't keep track. Is "cross-eyed" or "normal" supposed to be our default state?

Things that I will never understand, ENWorld Edition:
  1. why someone would choose to keep playing a game that makes them so miserable
  2. why people who hate something cannot abide others liking it (and vice versa)
  3. the concept of "retro-clones."
  4. threads that are just five dozen Chinese characters and the name of a university
1) Some people enjoy getting to be upset about things
2) Some people don't understand that their experiences aren't universal
3) Some people don't understand that game design has theory and research now
4) Some people aren't people at all, but bots

I understand (4), I'm still incredulous that it is hard do stop (unless the goal is to just stop the bots from trying worse things).

All of that is true. But what I'm trying to say is that I can't understand:
  1. people who enjoy getting upset,
  2. how someone on the Internet can't understand their experiences aren't universal,
  3. why someone would choose a clone over the original,
  4. why someone would create such a bot.
1. People suck.

4. People suck.
I hate how accurate (and unhelpful) this is.

How about...

1. Because it has superior layout and organization, being available in beautiful new books with nice new art and/or clearer explanations of the rules (like Old School Essentials, or OSRIC),
or
2. Because it makes some changes to the rules which you actually like (LotFP, Labyrinth Lord, Adventurer Conqueror King, The Nightmares Underneath).
Or
3. Because you like paper rulebooks, and printed books are for it are so cheap you can buy them for your whole table for the cost of one 5th edition hardcover, thus reducing the barrier to entry for your group (BFRPG).
