Really doesn't matter much what he intended. Star Wars releases have happened many times since then(most recently like last month or February) and it's still overwhelmingly 45+ people who are the fans. Lucas got it wrong.
Lucas got it right, I am pretty sure I was nowhere near 45 when he released them, and neither were most of the others who are 45+ now and became fans because of the original trilogy.

That fewer of the younger people are is more evidence of the other trilogies being not as good than of them not being targeted at teens

Can confirm, I was 14-20 when tge Prequels came out, and they were not inspiring.

That's not what it says and I see no reason to believe their excuse. A typographical error doesn't typically result in 40-45 instead of 40+ A typographical error is 41-45 instead of 40-45 or 40-55 instead of 40 to 45, or even 40 instead of 40+. You don't often get an entirely wrong range and WotC has done nothing to earn the benefit of the doubt.
well, it is either that error, or they forgot a category 46+ altogether, but then it should not add up to 100%… so I’d say it is the typo

Well, for one thing this was from a presentation to investors, so legallot has to be numbers they can back up. How do you reconcile the demographics for this website skewing even younger than WotC reports...?
Why would I need to? This site is middling fair for polls, but not an entirely accurate representation of the player base at large. We would expect there to be a discrepancy.

And as for representations of who buys what? What does it really matter if they lie or not? Sales numbers are sales numbers. If they make the money, it doesn't matter if they say they are targeting 18 year olds, but the product is for 30 years old who spend the money or vice versa. Corporations need to be accurate with the financials. They can and do lie to investors about other things.

Or they just stuck the percentage somewhere else that they wanted it to be. There are more options that just those two. No need for any typo to happen.

Looking at the WotC design team, they have quite the diversity in terms of generational representation: Perkins started playing in the early 80's, whole MacKenzie de Armas started playing D&D because of watching Critical Role and is part of writing the new Core rules now. That's the sort of thing that allows them to service a variety of people, even if they keep on target.

As someone pushing 40 soon enough, I don't care that I like things primarily aimed at teens and tweens: that's just life.
Yeup. A lot of great stories are made for kids, and end up transcending their origins becauSe they’re good stories.
What if I don't like rogue one?
That you understand Star Wars, probably.
Then you are likely Sith.
Nah, other way around

Why are you moving the goalposts?

You claimed Star Wars was made for adults. It objectively was not.

Who likes it the most is a separate question.

Stop shifting away from what the older players like. Almost every announcement shifts away from something the older players like and towards the very young.
Okay, so what do you think older players like?
Why would it need to be very expensive? That has never been my point or even implied by me. I've been discussing the books at the prices they have been released at this entire thread.
Just because of the focus previously on high disposable income.
Apparently not. Even though Gen X spends more than any other generation, apparently all those movies my wife and I see aren't really at the movies. 🤷‍♂️
That's okay. I think you are watching my share as well. :D

Rogue One was pretty popular. I wouldn't call those who like it Sith. For that matter I wouldn't seriously call those who dislike it Sith. :p

It's a distinction without a difference. Star Wars was brought up as an example of something that young people spend much more money on than older folks to match what D&D is supposed to be doing. Whether it was aimed at adults or children is not really relevant. Who spends the money on it is relevant and it's older people(45+) that are overwhelmingly the fans of Star Wars.
