D&D (2024) Do you think they will add more races to PHB2024 to make up for dropping other stuff?

How about then we get rid of orc in the PHB (since orc and half-orc are statistically the same and largely redundant. Then the PHB is just the 2014 races plus goliaths. And if you relegate them back to supplemental race status, you can have all the 2014 races again and once again completely backtrack on any proposed changes to the PHB. Golly gee, I'm so glad this new PHB is an opportunity to change absolutely nothing!

Uh, I wouldnt say no to moving Orcs/Goblins/Drow out of the PHB at all, and putting in Goliath, Genasi, and Aasimar instead.

I mean I assume you've seen the Orc in MotM? "You get Dash as a Bonus, and a few Temp HP." Riveting.

Heh... that's the same feeling every single species in D&D has ever had-- a small handful of inconsequential mechanics that no one cares about once your character reaches like Level 3.

I legit wonder how many people who are upset about this are really only upset about half-elves and don't care if half-orcs were removed/replaced by orcs?
As an Eberron fan, I very much care about Jhor'guntaal (half-orcs) too. I just prefer trying to keep my arguments focused, and Khoravar (half-elves) have a bigger presence in material I've been working on of late.

Plus, Jhor'guntaal tend to live in more integrated communities alongside orcs and humans, while a significant subset (though certainly not all) of Khorvaire's Khoravar are pushing for a distinct Khoravar cultural identity separate from their human and elven neighbors, which is precisely what I feel enforcing "Pick a Parent" undermines.

Mostly yeah? Its all painfully boring really. Why cant we get things like Eladrin? The spelljammer races? The UA Goliath better make it.

The basic species design of 5e is painfully dull.

I would be fine if the PHB had even fewer races than it does now... if there was a supplement that came out at the same time with a score or two more of them.

Those all also suck. ;)

All species mechanics suck, LOL. You can't condense an entire peoples genetic and societal make-up down into four simple game mechanics that have little to no effect on gameplay and have it matter. Especially not when your JOB give you 20 entire levels worth of mechanics.

I mean MotM is out now, and (big supposedly!) is meant to go with the new version/revision/not-edition, right?

You are right, but I'll still say Eladrin are better than most of whats in the PHB without question.

You are 100% correct though, they have made species, mostly an insignificant part of ones character, and its boring.

For my game for my 14yo and his friends, the races are the one thing I purchased all of on Beyond... and they are sure into using a wide variety. I'm not sure in a lot of cases how much it affects play (besides Dragonborn breath weapon), but the Tabaxi last time use their climbing ability.
