Only because you perceive a power dynamic and see the rules being flipped in a way that provides enjoyment for the players based on the way people play the game.
No, not at all and should remember why because one of the times I explained it was in a reply to you and you quoted that post.

I've explained why (ie 822 1063 & maybe others) the change makes for a negative impact on gameplay & table time for both the GM -and- other players who might call out the action that another player is about to take. IME it's far more common for a player to bring it up before the GM chimes in. What's really noteworthy is that you don't even acknowledge that the dismissal & resulting conflict created by the new RAW can negatively impact other players too.

Neither is good, nor bad, they're merely different. But some things can be more appropriate or more fitting for the needs of the current and future player base.

There are two different avenues of disagreement here.

1) I disagree with you aesthetically that gods controlling the font of divine power makes for a more compelling or coherent setting.

2) I disagree with you conceptually that the player base would be better served by providing a menu of disparate cosmology options in the DMG. My opinion could be biased by my agreement with their choices of what to present, but I feel like I would still support their decision even if they had presented a cosmology less to my liking.
Fair enough. I accept your disagree (on both counts), but I still maintain my view.

Show me these players. These players who think that they get to decide what all NPCs do and override everything on the DM's side of the screen.

I am only aware of two players who have ever had the upper hand over the DM - one used to badger him into running one on one sessions for their 15th level wizard 3.X PC when he was getting bored. (For some reason I did not invite that player to my game after the initial meeting). The other was the DM's girlfriend.

The main issue is whether DMs should be allowed to make players beg to use their character's abilities or whether the player has any in setting power at all.
No one is saying players need to beg their DM to use their superpowers, just that they follow the rules they agreed to when they built the PC.

And players have in-setting power through the choices they make for their PCs.

All IMO of course.

I’ve found your posts as unpersuasive as you’ve probably found mine. 🤷‍♂️

But I do remember you railing on in another thread about how me discussing “bad DMs” was toxic behavior, and yet this thread has done a lot to reaffirm my viewpoints on that score.
