How is this a response to a claim a bastion system is fluff that's not needed?I like the idea of bastions, but very much not the execution of it in the DMG. It feels divorced from the setting to me, just another set of PC superpowers.
The Kickstarter itself made $2,121,465 at a time when Matt was relatively unknown, and since then has made tons more.$1M when WotC makes $150M from D&D kinda puts the demand in perspective.
Right now monster creation is missing, out of the two I rate that higher… let’s see if that shows up in the MM, if not I consider it a bad trade
Marketing matters too, fair enough.Just because a ghost in a film said it doesn’t make it true.
99% of the time they don’t come: Marketing and sales are hard. There’s a reason why 99% of the industry is tiny 1-person companies. And if you just build it and hope they’ll just come, you probably shouldn’t be in businesse.
I’d argue he was not unknown at all, and the number reflects that…The Kickstarter itself made $2,121,465 at a time when Matt was relatively unknown
the D&D number was an annual number, it too made tons moreand since then has made tons more
we will, if it is then all is fine, if it isn’t then I have a few ideas about what they should have cut insteadWe think monster creation is in the MM where it belongs. I guess let's see.
I'd rather that space be taken up by other material rather than a subsystem operating on a premise that doesn't agree with my playstyle. Like I said, it's all preference. How is this a response to a claim a bastion system is fluff that's not needed?
A fair amount of optional rules material, for starters. What was thrown out?
you not liking the particular implementation does not have any bearing on how relevant having bastions is to a DM. That is the point they were trying to makeI'd rather that space be taken up by other material rather than a subsystem operating on a premise that doesn't agree with my playstyle. Like I said, it's all preference.
Who's "we"?The Kickstarter itself made $2,121,465 at a time when Matt was relatively unknown, and since then has made tons more.
There isn't a way to spin this concept as one that wasn't in demand. Matt basically tested the idea and found the market was interested, then WOTC tested it more and found the market was interested, and now in reviews of the DMG it's highlighted as a good contribution. I get you don't like it, but I don't get how you can claim the market thinks it's unnecessary fluff.
