I do rate 5 guys a bit above most.I quite like the burgers at Five Guys, and the fries and hot dogs are also very good. And, hey, free peanuts while you wait!

Five Guys burgers are good, but if you have peanut allergies, they aren’t for you.I do rate 5 guys a bit above most.
Culvers is pretty good. Also, in that part of the country.Five Guys burgers are good, but if you have peanut allergies, they aren’t for you.
My favorite fast food is Culvers. But I live in Culvers country so they’re common around here.
(First: I fully realize tastes are personal.)
I’ve heard people sing the praises of Shake Shack recently, but I haven’t tried them yet.
I tried my first In-N-Out burger a few years ago shortly after the first one in D/FW opened to major hype, and haven’t been back. What I had was…OK, and their menu was a bit limited- I didn’t see anything that set it apart from other major burger chains.
So now I’m questioning the Shack recs.
I've been to In-N-Out once since I moved to California. It was ludicrously busy at like 3 pm on a Saturday, and the food was fine? I think the fact that there are no In-N-Outs in SF might have something to do with how busy it was. It was one of the two down in Daly City, and it was slammed.
Part of the thing to remember about In-N-Out is that, nowadays, it's comparable or sometimes less than McDonald's. It's competing with them (they all started in the same area) and trounces other drive-thru burgers.I tried my first In-N-Out burger a few years ago shortly after the first one in D/FW opened to major hype, and haven’t been back. Raising Cane's is a bizarre success story. It's just so bland, but people swear by it.I guess its better than the trend of chicken finger places (Raising Canes, Dave's Hot Chicken, etc.) -‑ yuck.
