This looks ... interesting and yet not quite what I want from the Green Lanterns. I want more cosmic, spacey stuff, grounded Lanterns seems like a round peg and a square hole.

Again, a $19 million profit on a $200 million dollar investment.

A studio exec that gave them a big budget on this would have been shown the door pretty quickly, especially since it's been clear for a while now that WB/Discovery was going to have new owners during the production cycle for this show.

You're misreading the situation and ignoring all the major structures that were shown cut in half in the trailer. This is not going to be Reacher -- this is going to be something superpowered.

Again, this is like Peacemaker, which initially seems to be Daredevil-level shenanigans but which then spirals way, way beyond that.

Green Lantern: The Animated Series from 2011 was short-lived but I remember enjoying it at the time.

For some reason I'm reminded of the episode of "Stargate: SG1" in which a small town was taken over by larval Goa'uld, that had infected the population.

Also, just because you can blast Mongul into the sun doesn't mean you can solve a small town corruption problem in the same way. You can't fix that sort of thing by punching it.

He's been a classic Boomer since his inception, often as a foil for Ollie. This is just foregrounding that.
