D&D 5E [IC] Creamsteak's Princes of Elemental Evil

Dent stalked forward and accosted the two initiates closest to him. His shiny new longsword glinted with malice as he swung, slicing into flesh and sinew.

Carradoc does not want to be surrounded, and plans to draw back to the more narrow approach. He knows the way out there. the bonfire has erupted at his feet. He fires a bolt at the same cultist, frustrated at the positioning, and recognizing how useful the lightning spell of the winged witch would be right now.

"Pew."

Maighan holds out a hand and speaks words in the twisty tongue of the druids. Spirits of flame swirl in her palm and ignite a strange sphere of crackling green witchfire. She hurls that into the midst of her enemies, and the the thing cackles wildly as it spins forward at one of the armored men in front!

Meanwhile she steps back a bit, hoping to avoid direct confrontation...

(Cast Flaming Sphere at I19 and attempt to hit the north armored guy. He must make a DC 16 Dex save or take [roll0] fire damage. No damage if he makes it. Anyone ending their turn within 5' of the sphere must make that save, or take that damage, as well. Maighan then moves to B19 to get some cover against arrows from Thaliss. )

Both of Dent's strikes land even against his defending enemies. One initiate falls, but the other takes his blow and rocks back a bit.

Carradoc ends a cultist initiate.

The conjured flaming sphere overruns the other initiate. I was not sure about Maighan's move after that, but I imagine the wall can provide reasonable cover.

Miles has an action.

~ Miles took one, unblinking look at the summoned creatures inside the tavern.

" ... Nope."

He closed the door and immediately took off at the sounds of battle. Rushing around the corner, with haste, he made to assist his new ally, Dent, taking advantage of the man's own strikes to try and impale the other cultist upon the blade of his new spear. He kept his shield high, using it to protect himself as much as Dent if it came down to it. ~

Miles is able to defeat the other cultist by Dent.

Many Kenku. Handle it!

Five arrows target Thaliss. One is a critical, one is deflected by shield, one is a hit. 10 damage on the critical, 4 damage on the hit.

One plinks at Miles, easily ignored.

Five more target Kubeba who has some cover from allies. Three arrows hit, dealing 2, 4, and 3 damage after resistance.

Two initiates also engage kubeba in melee with daggers. One lands a hit for 2 damage after resistance.

A monk rounds the corner and Thunderwave's Dent and Miles. Both save, only taking 9 thunder damage.

Two monks move through the room opening the door that was closed by Miles and dashing towards Thaliss and Carradoc's directions.

The remaining monk dives over the bonfire taking 9 fire damage. He attacks Maighan but misses.

The priests direct their dust devils and move.

The Skyweaver engaged by Kubeba attempts to Shocking Grasp her way out of this danger. It hits, but it only does all of 2 points of lighting damage after resistance.

The final Skyweaver decides to Witch Bolt Kubeba and misses.

"Ungh!" Dent grunted and grit his teeth when the thunderwave struck. "I'm coming to really hate that spell." He edged forward, brandished his longsword, and swung at the monk.

Dent moves up and strikes the monk twice.

~ Miles had felt the arrow bounce harmlessly off of his shield, giving him a thrill. He lowered it slightly to laugh heartily at the danger.

Right as the spell came careening into himself and Dent. He barely raised the shield again to deal with the concussive force, his teeth rattling in his skull while trying to keep his jaw slackened so his eardrums did not burst.

" You and me both! Damn these birds and damn this Temple!"

Miles was right on Dent's tail until he heard the door open behind him (somehow, in this cacophony of battle). He skittered to a brief stop to see the Monks closing towards his other allies.

" Thaliss! Carradoc! Enemies out of the door!" he warned, brandishing Windvane up to the air. The light of the Bonfire glinted off its glittering blade, the sapphires embedded in the silvery steel, casting a dazzling, spectral array at the monks to hopefully catch one's attention.

That oughta help those two out a bit, Miles barely had time to muse, chasing after Dent and once again following the man's powerful sword strikes with a thrust of the lance. The spear crackled with electricity, the mercenary letting out a war cry to let those damnable Kenku that he was coming for them next.

" By the Shield of Helm! You slavers shall suffer The Watcher's Wrath!"
