D&D 5E (IC) Rise of the Dracolich

Prickly Pear

Adventurer
Sesto tried to equip his shield quickly but, alas, it always took a long time. He then climbed out of the kayak and moved towards the enormous crocodile.
Suddenly, the big croc swallowed Kalorn in on go. You'd think it would choke on something that big and prickly, wouldn't you? Sesto thought in horror. Sesto called forth his trusted spectral mace and flicked it at the crocs snout in hope that it would spit Kalorn out again.

OOC: Action: don the shield
Move: 15ft to climb out of kayak and 15 ft closer to croczilla
Bonus action: cast Spiritual Weapon Spiritual Weapon (attack and force damage): 1D20+8 = [9]+8 = 17
1D8+5 = [1]+5 = 6

Legend
Lorenn vs Lizardfolk3

Defending himself against the last Lizardfolk to remain alive aboard the houdah, Lorenn burnt away some more of his magical webbing with flames from his sword. The Lizardfolk thrashed at him, twisting itself up in the webs even as they burned. After stabbing at the Crocodile, Lorenn called to his board and flew off to find Sesto. The Lizardfolk, trying to stop him from getting away, tangled itself up even more, and finally it burned to death.

Sesto & Loklafd

Sesto and Loklafd moved their kayaks around the wake created by the rushing crocodile. Sesto strapped on his shield and climbed out, moving around the giant beast while Lorenn and Eko flew up beside him. He summoned a glowing mace, which smashed the crocodile's nose, as Loklafd fired a few more arrows into its hide.

Deep inside the Crocodile, Kalorn twisted around looking for a way out. It was dark inside the beast, but every now-and-then he could just see a flash of light as the crocodile opened its mouth to bite at one of his companions.

(OOC: by my math, Kalorn's HP is at 40, he used second wind last round).

Kalorn saw the flash of light and looked up. He got ready... his right hand clutching his sword, his left hand stretched out, the demon-leg tense. As the crocodile opened its mouth to bite again - there, he could see out.

"Shadows take me..." and he slammed down with the demon leg. Shadows flared, a hole was torn in space, and he fell into darkness...

... he was falling down, into shadows. The sky above was alien, with strange stars and a purplish moon. To his right, a raven stood on the horizon, big as a mountain, its eyes piercing, glaring at Kalorn as he fell. Kalorn looked back, defiant... and was swallowed by the gloom...

... only to appear in a faint puff of fog near his companions, a few feet above the ground. He fell briefly, the surface of the water stretching and rippling wildly as he landed heavily in a crouch. He stood up and pointed his sword at the Crocodile...

which jerked strangely as the rift in space opened by the spell snapped shut with a loud boom.

OOC: Ready action to cast Thunder step. Crocodile takes thunder step vs crocodile: 3D10+3 = [9, 6, 5]+3 = 23
damage. Save DC is 15 (Con), although there might be disadvantage or even auto-fail since it's *inside* the crocodile.

Kalorn *might* be able to snatch someone being bitten/grabbed on the way out, although this is unlikely (timing would have to be really perfect). I don't know where he will end on the map as he's going for the first spot he can see, the goal is to get out, not go somewhere. Maximum range is 90 feet.

Alhana, confident in her position, looses another arrow at the croc. It strikes, and upon doing so the arrow shaft sprouts, turning into poison brambles which wrap around the croc, slowing its movement.
She then takes aim to strike a vulnerable spot, risking mising the beast entirely. Her arrow flies true and straight, striking the creature.
OOC: Longbow on Croczilla: 1D20+11 = [17]+11 = 28
1D8+6 = [2]+6 = 8

Grasping Arrow on Croczilla: 2D6 = [5, 5] = 10
[sblock="Grasping Arrow (Special)"]
A creature hit by the arrow takes an extra 2d6 poison damage, its speed is reduced by 10 ft., and it takes 2d6 slashing damage the first time on each turn it moves 1 ft. or more. The brambles last for 1 minute, until you use this option again, or until any creature uses an action to remove them with an Athletics check (DC 13). Primus looks down at the creature swimming at him under the water, and raises his eyebrow. "I see you there."

He attempts to give it a massive headache.

Sesto's mace flicked the snout one more time, this time with more force.
Lorenn came up to Sesto, badly hurt. Sesto realised that some powerful healing was needed. Maybe he even needed to draw some strength from himself and transfer to Lorenn. Yes, that might work. It would hurt but nonetheless, Lorenn needed it.

OOC: Bonus action: Spiritual Weapon attack and damage: 1D20+8 = [14]+8 = 22
1D8+5 = [8]+5 = 13

Action: Life Transference (XGTE) : 4D8 = [3, 2, 8, 7] = 20. Sesto takes 20 HP necrotic damage and Lorenn gains twice that (40 HP). Next, Sesto gains 5 HP from Blessed Healer.
Move: Looks like Sesto is right next to croczilla... Sesto will want to move away 20 ft but not if it provokes an attack of opportunity.

HP: 44/59
Used 1x 2nd lvl and 1x 3rd lvl spell slots

Legend
Everyone

The enormous Crocodile was mortally wounded by the explosion that occurred in its throat as Kalorn teleported free. It thrashed about, in terrible pain, but was put out of its misery by Alhana's arrows and Sesto's mace. Finally, it stopped thrashing as Lorenn ran his sword along its side, opening it up.

Primus melted the mind of the swimming lizardfolk with ease, and the last of them fell to the Mordguard backed up by Mord's eldritch bolts.

Soon, the Frostskimmr rounded the little island and came into view. Having fought a battle with Lizardfolk themselves, the crew of the Longship raised their oars and cheered at the sight of the dead Crocodile and its mangled Houdah and slaughtered crew.

Loklafd hailed his kin (a distant cousin) the captain in the Reghed tongue and the forty-strong crew of the Longship welcomed the newcomers aboard, lashing the kayaks to the bows below the figurehead carving of a two-headed serpent.

"What adventures we'll have, with folks such as you." announced Captain Lerustah Half-Face, his leather hood hiding the wound which gave him his name. He turned to his crew and yelled, "Make for the Sea of Swords! Pull!"

The crew dipped their oars in unison and the Longship followed the largest waterway it could find, heading west toward the slowly setting sun.

OOC: End of Encounter, obviously. I was gonna work it out slowly, but it was just SO much damage!
