It's also not its actual in-universe name. It's a fan name Jordan took a liking to and used as a means for referring to the otherwise nameless Earth-as-part-of-an-eternal-cycle that is the WoT world in supplemental material.
I know it's a fan-name. Jordan brought it on himself by not coming up with a reasonable sounding name for the setting in the first place. Randlands...

Leaving things to be named by fans is how we end up with stuff like Figwit. And Pun-Pun

It would have solved the core mystery of Eye of the World real quick though.

Which is great...if you're the DM.

When you aren't the DM--which, statistically speaking, most people who participate in D&D are not--then getting "Boilerplate Tolkien Setting Ripoff #20987" is rather a more serious issue.
