NuTSR, owned by Justin LaNasa, has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, which will liquidate the company's assets.

NuTSR's gross revenue so far for 2023 is $621.93 according to the documents filed in North Carolina. This is balanced against total liabilities of just over $384,000.

The company made the news over the last couple of years, emerging in 2020 when then-owners Justin LaNasa and Stephen Dinehart registered the defunct TSR trademarks and launched the new venture with the involvement of Ernie Gygax, one of D&D co-creator Gary Gygax's sons. Over the following months, NuTSR generated controversy after controversy, attempted to sue D&D publishers Wizards of the Coast via a crowdfunding effort, and in March 2022 eventually found itself on the receiving end of a lawsuit from them.

As a consequence of the bankruptcy petition the current lawsuit between WotC and NuTSR is on hold, postponed until March 2024. NuTSR's website is still active.

I think too many people are still thinking of him as a kid for some reason.

Ernie Jr. is a minimum of 53 years old, since he had been born when EGG lost his job in 1970 (I think he's actually over 60 now). He is a grown adult making grown adult bad choices.

Yep, and if good friends warn you that you're making bad choices and you still make them, there's no excuses left to make.

He's suggested multiple times that all he cares about is his ability to game. If he can spend his life DMing any time with any one, nothing else matters to him.

No one keeps hanging out with racists, sexists and homophobes accidentally.

He wants to game, sure, but he also wants to be firmly on the side of the forces of evil.

The fact that he wants to play games doesn't absolve him of his responsibilities or the consequences of his actions. Again, adult with all his faculties.

Oh I'm not absolving him at all... What I was trying to say is that he's not actively seeking out evil, or turned inherently evil himself... He just doesn't care. How racist a person is is irrelevant to his ability to DM for them.

He makes no effort to call them on their bad behavior. He's the physical embodiment of that "Nazi bar" story that's been circulated. He's "firmly on the side of the forces of evil" through his own inaction.

In light of the bankruptcy filing, Justin of NuTSR is now going to all his products and rebranding them under his other company, "OSR Games, LLC".
