D&D (2024) Class spell lists and pact magic are back!

Limit Break Dancing (He/They)
Honestly I might just homebrew Rangers getting access to Druid spells, Paladins getting access to Cleric spells and Sorcerers getting access to Wizard spells (and maybe even Druid spells too). They are already limited either by being a Half Casters or having a much smaller spells known pool so I don’t see a problem with this.
Agreed. Sorcerer, Warlock, and CleDruWiz are more about how the spells are cast, and less about which spells.

One of my earliest characters was a sorcerer who pulled his spells from the Druid list. A lot more fun than the default "I'm a wizard except I'm not."

I'm generally happy with how the playtest is shaping up but I honestly would like to see short rests gone.
Between monk’s points still being short rest based, some features like channel divinity going from prof uses per day to 2 uses per day and recovering one on a short rest, and now getting confirmation that pact magic is coming back, the clear signal I’m getting is that the short rest haters are a vocal minority, and most of the 5e player base wants them to stay.

I kind of liked 'proficiency times per day', but definitely did not like the idea of keeping track of 10 abilities that all worked like that.

It just seemed much closer to their design sensibilities, to just rely on long rest.

This reverting back only helps the Wizard class
The truth is.

This is because TSR and WOTC wizards are bland and flavorless. And 5e's are more bland.

Wizards are just spells and a spellbook. No other class features. And even though 50-90% of any books new spells go to wizards, that's only once a year for 3-10 spells every 3 years.

So now the milk and toast milquetoast just spells caster is boring without new exciting design.

But the "let the DM handle it" and "Backwards Compatibility " crowds are in not rush for that

Could probably do monks that way too.

X ki per day
Recovery Y ki per short rest.
