Sometimes, important work events (back-to-work meal, christmas dinner, galette des rois [cake for Epiphany], crêpes [cake for the Presentation of Jesus]... fall on Friday. In these occasions, the employer is allowed to serve alcohol on the workplace, no higher than 15% alcohol content. In those rare occasion, working is obviously necessary.

Yes! Work-life balance is a real thing you should have.

I've worked in a couple of places that have limited or no vacation roll-over. Luckily, in those same places, they managers have all been very strident about people taking their days off.

Take a couple of Fridays/Mondays and treat yourself to a few four day weekends bookended by shorter work weeks.

Even if you're not traveling.. Just not being at work is awesome.

Definitely. This is what I end up doing - I often wind up having no full work-weeks for November and December. Take one day before Turkey Day, and the Monday after, and you suddenly have a five-day stretch of no work! It is awesome!
