Reading the license, which is really a pretty insulting document, I was wondering why they even bothered making a GSL since they made sure in a lot of ways that no one far enough on the evolutionary scale to stand upright would ever use it. Why just not have a license and save the lawyer fees?

Dracollich, I like the idea of adding in an option for a Shield bash. That fits a lot of character concepts, too. Damage doesn't have to be significant, but it would feel awesome to smash somebody's face with your shield now and then (and do damage as opposed to Pushing them).

I got the exact same email. Unfortunately, the local Borders and Barnes and Noble are both sold out so I need to go across town for a temp. player's handbook. But it has to be done, so no use whining. ;)

It'll succeed if WotC is willing to spend the money on development that is required. It's not as cheap as developing rule books. If they spend the money, it will be all right. If they try to cut corners, as they have in the past, it won't. I hope it succeeds.

Oh, and for the record, I don't think there's anything wrong with 2E. It was about 1000% more fun than any game of 3E I've ever seen or played. I just happen to think AD&D is better. 4E? It has big shoes to fill (they just don't belong to 3E).
