@Neurotic, I noticed that my posted map has Sapphirion and the Orc Merc 10ft apart. You knocked the orc back but then he rushed forward and slashed Sapph with an axe. They should be adjacent. I won't bother fixing the posted map, but I have them together on mine now.

Ah yes. The problems of being a rogue. I might not be able to get a good sneak attack this round if I move, but if I don't move I definitely won't be able to get a good sneak attack on the survivors. I think I should wait to see if anyone can actually get into melee range with something, then the decision won't be as hard.

@FitzTheRuke can you disregard my post for the moment. I realize that I have a reach weapon and can’t attack adjacent foes (I think), so the location I said I’m going won’t work. I think I might just jump down to chase the cultist but I’m looking for the athletics dc to descend.

Oops! Already responded to it. You CAN attack at normal 5ft reach with a reach weapon. Everything is good.

The "only" benefit to a Reach weapon in 5e (both 14 and 24 versions) is the reach itself (if you don't have the movement to get into melee by that one square) and that you qualify for the polearm master feat. That's it, as far as I can tell. There's no drawback, other than that there's a bit more "room" for opponents to move around within your reach without provoking an OA. (They only provoke when they LEAVE your reach, not when they mosey around inside it).
