D&D (2024) 5.24e New Cleric

Flurry is over double the damage, and focus fire is better.

3d8 (13.5) AoE
 vs
3d8+15 (28.5)

Also elemental monks already have a 3d8 AoE with massive range.

So while spirit drag may feel cheesy, it's really not all that strong. Unless you again a horde of zombies or something.

Yeah, I'm really kind of surprised how many people are focusing on the Spirit Guardian's change. Sure, if you cheese it you can activate it multiple times a round... but you could do that before. Overall, I don't suspect this is going to end up making any difference for the spell at my tables.

Okay, and what level do you want to eventually talk about? Because Monk damage increases as well. And there really is very little different about exploiting new spirit guardians for multiple damage instances and the old version. The biggest difference is it makes the cleric feel like they are on the offense, instead of the defense.

My main issue with clerics was…they still seem so boring. I’ve had 3 clerics in my game over time, and all of them focused on the same spells all the time.

I don’t really see that changing in 2024

When you say you could do that before, what're you referring to?

Were there changes to the Life Cleric's channel divinity Preserve Life?

2014 Preserve Life:
Starting at 2nd level, you can use your Channel Divinity to heal the badly injured.
As an action, you present your holy symbol and evoke healing energy that can restore a number of hit points equal to five times your cleric level. Choose any creatures within 30 feet of you, and divide those hit points among them. This feature can restore a creature to no more than half of its hit point maximum. You can’t use this feature on an undead or a construct.

Playtest reports are people are getting it off on all targets 3 times per round, instead of some targets 1 time. Small sample, but I do think it will have a meaningful impact.

Well they won't be casting Spiritual Weapon anymore (it's now concentration so cannot be combined with the others).

Just that it now specifies you can heal yourself with it
