A5e does a nice job of giving each of the classes some features that touch upon the three pillars of game play- combat, exploration and social interaction. There is also the added benefit that you will want to stick with a particular class instead of doing a multiclass dip. But if you are set on multiclassing out your character, A5e has multiclass or synergy feats for you to try out. A bit of a win-win?In terms of power and fewer dead levels and martial utility out of combat it's a step closer... but it's still a case of martial classes having fewer decision points.

I think it was first done for D&D in Ancestry & Culture from Arcanist Press, a year before we did it with A5E. 2024 doesn't really do it, at least not the same extent.De-coupling biological species/heritage/race from culture/background is something A5E did first which 2024 now handles in a somewhat similar fashion.
Still no culture metric though, so D&D is still running behind (in this and many other ways).De-coupling biological species/heritage/race from culture/background is something A5E did first which 2024 now handles in a somewhat similar fashion.
