By that same token, maybe stop painting people who think alignment is toxic garbage that makes the game worse and want it gone for good as specifically trying to steal something from you because we're idiots that don't understand the glory of alignment?
No. Not and idiot. Not that you don't understand alignment. Just petty, because you want to have a tool that many less creative people need and use be taken away from them.

If you ignore alignment the game doesn't lose anything mechanically so feel free to ignore it. It's effectively an optional rule as it is.

Calling an aspect of the game "hot garbage" does nothing to justify your opinion or why it should be removed.

If you change it to, "Hunting down and killing every foe who ever raises a sword against the weak and salting the earth behind you," then it is defending the weak. How you go about defending the weak makes that a good or evil ideal.
If your Ideal is “Hunting down and killing every foe who ever raises a sword against the weak” than “Defending the weak” is not your Ideal, “HDAKEFWERASATW” is your Ideal.

Your Personality, Bonds, Flaws and Ideals reflect the core concept of your character. In @Helldritch ‘s example, they clearly don’t.

But it's not needed! D&D is pretty much the only game still desperately clinging to this barnacle encrusted detritus to stay afloat when they're actually in six inches of water on the shores of 'just play an archetype' and 'steal from your favorite media' islands. I maintain that the only reason people really want alignment around is inertia and everything else being argued is justification for that inertia. Like Crocks.

IT IS hot garbage to me because of all the problems it promotes that its defenders minimize.

Prove it, then. Prove that "making sure that the strong who have gone after the weak never prey upon the weak again by killing them." is not defending the weak, because it is.

Now we’re making up
“Non creative people” to defend for some reason.

I mean... the lengths we go through to defend nostalgia are.... something else.
