(Adventure) Feral Smackdown Battle Royale

Sir Ishmael looked at Kirin with great surprise. He now thought her reckless and callous, quite unlike what he first assumed. The Halfling regarded the cleric with some suspicion as he checked on the monks that lay on the ground. If any of them still lived but was dying, he spent his healing ability to stabilize them (1 hp).

The Paladin was still at his work when the human Bard questioned him concerning his use of the Draconic tongue.

"A scholar? Nay sir, I am but a simple knight of the Order of the Wooden Sword. Pardon me for a moment whilst I attempt to aid the inhabitants of the temple. I will return answer to thine inquiry after this task is done"

OOC: Hey Wizwrm, don't you have to be Non-lawful in order to advance as a Bard?

Yeah, but I asked Uriel if I could switch to LN, and he OK'ed it, so I did. But now I'm thinking of switching back to N.

Rurik walks back to retrieve his waraxe, puts his bow away, and walks back to the center of the room, never thinking for a moment that his marksmanship would catch an eagle in full flight. (I s'pose I ca kill'm if'n I see'm agin, but s'more m'portant ta git the good guys back onta ther feet, I'm think'n.)

Arriving in time to catch Velbrik's remarks, he responds to the bard: "S'a good thing we dun have to figger out the burial rites fer monks, then, on account'n we got one o' 'em right 'ere." He pauses to indicate Tara. "Which reminds me; not ta be rude-like er nothin', but I gots a wound's need'n tent to, an' the monks'a got some healin' salve. I be Rurik Axebender, by tha way. I'm think'n we met real brief-like back'a the einkeep. Velbrik, innit?"

Rurik tips his steel cap (with the horns, so it's not as hard as it looks) in salutation, and goes to see Tara about some healing.

OoC:I just got off of a 15 hr NYEve shift at the club, so I'm barely awake...
I'll come on early this evening after I've had some sleep and dole out some XP.
The Monk Gunter is still alive (at -6 or so), the other one was killed outright. Tara has Healing Salves and with the above-mentioned stabilization, he should pull through.

No mention of closing doors was made, so it looks to be a clean getaway for the Druid at this point. Feel free to scream/correct me/whatever, although let's confine it to this thread...

Why bother? I do prefer a pet villain to a pet ally, so with any luck our ranger friend won't save the day by shooting the bird on its way out.

Kirin will use her protection domain ability on Troi for his second save and comment to Velbrik "This may not be over, we saw tracks earlier for a larger creature than we have encountered here...
OOC: if I somehow missed mention of an ogre, feel free to ignore
If you have any skill or magic that could further fortify your friend, use it now - that foul touch does not do its harm all at once." She pauses and says quietly "And while I do not hold any life, even my own, more valuable than that violating monster's death or capture would have been, it would be regretable to have allowed him escape and still lose your companion..." On the word 'allowed' she glances with great disapointment at the halfling paladin.

Velbrik leaps forward, activating the Wand, touching Troi <healed 7HP, brought to +2>.

Troi opens his eyes slowly, looking around cautiously...

Velbrik
He looks at Troi and gives him a brief summary of what happened while he was unconcious. His voice is steady, smooth, and urbane, possessing even a bit of a musical flair to it.

Troi nods, getting up, not interrupting as Velbrik explains what happened.

Velbrik
"It's too bad that the creature escaped. No tracks, either, but he hopefully will be not too far out of the grasp of magic... first, though, we ought to ransack the monastery for surviving monks..."

Troi shakes his head. "We did that th' last time, 'member? We need ta get after 'im now, or else we're gonna have ta do somethin' like this again... though I'm not feelin' too up ta it at th' moment..."

He takes the healing salve off of his belt and applies it to his wounds (1d8+1 for the healing salve, IIRC).

Kirin
"This may not be over, we saw tracks earlier for a larger creature than we have encountered here..."

"Yeah, we saw it." Troi says, nodding. "We killed it, too. Big critter, nasty..."

Kirin
"If you have any skill or magic that could further fortify your friend, use it now - that foul touch does not do its harm all at once."

"That's not good." Troi says. "I'm not feelin' too great now, y'know? Just how bad is this gonna get?"

OoC: I highly doubt that the eagle is in range anymore, by the time that Troi is up and able to do anything.

Troi's healing salve heals 5 HP.
Kirin's Spell adis Troi, who passes his second Fort Save vs. the Poison.
Gunter gains conciousness, and, after another application of Salve from Tara is able to move <pos 6HP now>.
There are a dozen or so bodies of ferals (the Dire Wof vanishes, as a summoned creature). The Demon's body is slowly decomposing into goo (with a hellish smell to boot). Along the North wall are many weapons and a few shields, axes, swords,a few maces. Most have a very barbaric look (Thurgan identifies them as Orcish), though several look of much higher quality:a light mace, a dwarven waraxe and a short spear are all of obvious non-Orcish make and exceptional quality. As well, hanging on a peg nearby is a scabbarded Scimitar in a dark green scabbard, it's polished hawthorn hilt and leaf-motiffed hilt a testament to who it belonged to...

Kirin merely says "gather your strength" and casts resistance, even though she suspects that it will do little to suplement her instinctive aid.

OOC: with the almost max damage from last time, you're at -4 to a save you already failed. If kirin somehow leveled again in one fight (highly unlikely) she could give you a +3 rather than +2 bonus, and cast bears endurance for another +2 and a bit of buffer to keep you alive for 3 more minutes if uriel rolls less than average con damage. :( delay poison shouldn't work on the spell, sadly... unless someone has a non-resistance bonus to fort saves they can give, it looks poorly. Any other clerics in the house?

heh, edit, looks like things turned out ok... lucky troi, or perhaps it was a very bad roll that failed the last time...

OoC:I rolled a 19 for troi's save, with you +2 and his +3, that makes 24-the 4, he still made it. He is down quite a few Con points, however...

OOC: This is assuming that Gunter was stabilized already.

Sir Ishmael knelt to the ground beside William's body, sorrow crossing his expression at the loss of a noble soul. After a moment of silence, the Halfling arose from his knees.

"Master Velbrik, asked thee of mine knowledge of Draconic tongue, did thou not? I pray thee forgive this simple Halfling for the delay, for I am a stranger to events of great sadness."
