It's interesting, because the show hasn't directly aired in my market, I'm not bombarded with advertisements. Because I'm not bombarded with advertisements, I have no idea what is coming when I watch the next episode. No previews, no spoilers. It's great. I'm really digging seeing the show for the first time in a complete vacuum. The last time I did that was for B5, and that really wasn't the case, as you kind of knew what the outcome for the show already was--you saw previews, and prophecies and what not, and it was the path of getting there that was interesting. There is none of that for me watching BG. It's complete darkness. I have no idea where things are going, and it's great!

Spoilers ho:

Because of this, the events of "Bastille Day" were a complete surprise to me. Richard Hatch on a BG set? Cool. And his role was perfect, I thought, and the matching of him with the new Apollo was even better. Great theater.

So far, 33 is the best to me. It is possbly one of the best opening episodes of any sci-fi to date. It reaches out, gets you, and doesn't let go.

After 33, each of the three remaining eps are all on an equal footing. They all have much different feels to them. If there were a weakness to the show right now, I think there is too much time spent on every character on each episode. There have been little bits of the Helo/Boomer in every episode. I suppose there is something to keeping everyone in the same time-frame (it's only been two weeks since the fall of civilization, and we are only 4 episodes in!), and I know the payoff on their plotline will be awesome, but I hope they can make their scenes mesh better with the rest of the show...

I've been really enjoying it, although I had been getting concerned about the lack of character building - at least until this weeks episode
with all the back story with Zac and Starbuck, which has created some nice tension between some of the characters.

I agree with Jhallum's comment about the
Helo/Boomer thing not quite meshing with the rest of the show. Maybe they'd have been better off giving it an episode to itself.

My favourite episode was last week's,
on on the prison ship with Richard Hatch.
There was some nice action and some great performances. Oh and the
ear-biting
was cool, too!
