Angel - 4/30 (SPOILERS)

I presume nobody has had a chance to start a thread on the topic due to the boards going down, so here goes...

I was seriously not expecting Jasmine to go from mistress-of-the-world-to-be to cold meat in one episode, and especially not with Connor punching in the back of her head. I'm still not sure whether he could do that just because she had lost her powers, or because of his role as her father or because he just rolled a lucky critical :) Thoughts?

Considering what was shown in the previews for next week, I'm wondering if Angel actually turns human (no reaction to sunlight), but that's probably too much of a change. And what's with the reappearance of the dead? Maybe the First?

Quite the episode! At least stuff happens on Angel, unlike Buffy, which has a glacial plot movement lately.

Hardly. There is yet to be any evidence of a co-mingling of bad guy story lines. This is a red herring.

Wolfram and Hart is a demon based law firm. Who's to say what they can and cannot do? They brought Darla back from the dead. Don't forget that Willow and Co. brought Buffy back from the dead.

It's "To Serve Man" - from an episode of the Twilight Zone.

Great episode, but....huh? We get this big build-up that Cordelia is important to Jasmine's well-being, and the 'maybe cordy can harm her' theories...and it turns out to be a non-issue? Why waste the time on it, if it isn't? If you're covering for CC pregnancy, that's spiffy....but I think they oversold it, unless there's more to the tale coming.

Connor is on his way to being Season 5's big bad...sort of. I did like his justification for following Jasmine, actually. It's probably the first time we've seen Connor really display some sort of rationale to his thinking that held any water, for me. Poor Angel, he knows the kid's bent, but like a good father, he hates the sin and loves the sinner. No fear about him being too happy now, is there?

I liked Jasmine lifting the car. I'm wondering how much the world will react to the events of Jasmine's reign, or will they gloss over it, which would bug me? I'm not expecting drastic changes to the world, but the occasional nod about the event and maybe a notice that things are a little different than our reality would be kind of nice. I mean, maggoty-Jasmine was seen all over the world, apparently, and that means that millions were privy to her...granted, only those in Cally would have been under her control...but the rest of the world would have noticed the creepy behavior of the folks out there. And whatever else you might say, the rest of the nation is going to tend to notice when every sentient being in one of the most populous states in the US goes wiggy. (That being an invitation to avoid the classic/tired 'those crazy folks in california' joke that someone is readying even now).

I think it was classic misdirection, a reverse of the old riddle:

A youth is driving his father to the store, when they hit another car. The father is instantly killed, and an ambulance rushes the kid to the hospital. In the emergency room, the surgeon takes one look at the kid and says, "I can't operate on him -- he's my son!" How is that possible?

In this case, everyone is wrapped up around the idea that Cordelia can hurt Jasmine because she's Jasmine's parent. It doesn't occur to anyone, except to Connor, that Jasmine has two parents.

Good point, I didn't really think about that. Works much better, then. Mind you, that old riddle is losing it's punch, now that cultural expectations about doctors have changed.

I think that Daniel has the right of it. Had they found Cordie and managed to wake her up, she would have been able to help them defeat Jasmine, but as it wound up, Connor fixed it for them.

How about that ending, btw?

I'm so glad that Delilah's back

1) I'm not sold on the idea that Jasmine is finished off yet.

2) the whole Cordelia thing gave me the impression that Cordy continued living was essential to Jasmines well being, i.e. if Cordy dies Jasmine is screwed. Same goes for Connor.

3) This could just wishful thinking on my part that would lead to Connors horrible, horrible death. God I hate him, maybe even more than Jar Jar.

Connor is on his way to being Season 5's big bad...sort of.

While I'm hoping that's not true since it would mean another season of the annoying bastard, at least it means he'd likely die at the end.

You forget, she was actually on TV for a bit before Angel showed up and ruined everything for her, so there are a lot of people around the world who were enspelled. Though despite what are intrepid heroes thought they weren't all alone since the entire world still doesn't have access to TV and radio.

(That being an invitation to avoid the classic/tired 'those crazy folks in california' joke that someone is readying even now).

Damn, I've got nothing!

possible spoilers based on my own guesswork.

I am thinking that Cordelia was hidden away because for as long as she lived, the big bad could not be killed. I think that Conner took care of that little problem went he sought Cordelia out. That would explain why he was so moody (even for him) so that he has nothing left to live for. That is why he was able to kill Jasmine.

Interesting theories, but I think the simple one works best. Since Cordy and Connor "created" Jasmine, they had the power to hurt her. Already, Cordy's blood broke through her enthrallment spell. Which meant that Connor had the power to punch right through her. What he created, he can destroy.

How about the revelation that Connor could see her as she really is the entire time?? Very cool. And Angel offering Jasmine the opportunity to join him and help save this world... also cool.

This episode proves that Angel rocks, while Buffy sucks.

An the ending was very cool! Like me, I'm sure most people thought it was Cordy come back... but I'm pretty sure it's the First come to L.A. Let's not forget that Wes chopped up Lyla's body! I can't wait till next week!!!

Also, while I've hated Connor all season long, I totally changed my attitude toward him last night. His speech to Comatose Cordelia (Sounds like a Garbage Pail Kid) was pretty much what I thought was going on -- he knew that Jasmine was a lie, but his whole life has been betrayal after betrayal after betrayal, and he couldn't stand to believe that this one was another betrayal. However, I wasn't expecting the whiny little psychotic bastard to show such self-awareness and contemplation; his ability to recognize what was going on, and to change how he acted, gave me a whole new level of respect for him.

Plus, it was great seeing the actor show an emotion beyond sneer and sulk. Kudos to the actor!

I think I could actually stand for Connor to stay on the show, after last night's episode.
