Assassin sneak attack (flanking?)

First Post
A debate has come up in my campaign about whether the rules allow an assassin to use his sneak attack when flanking. The rules text is almost identical to that of the rogue, but specifically leaves out the case of flanking, so I'm leaning towards "no". What do you think?

Thanks.

What hong says is what the sage has ruled.

Any class that has sneak attack uses the rules in the PHB for sneak attack.

Yeah, also the Uncanny Dodge is slightly off, I think, in both the Assassin and Blackguard writeups. They should be the same as the Rogue has. (One would think that copy and paste was a well established practice by now, but ;))

This is the second time in two days that someone assumed that the Sage's answer is in a Dragon mag :)

To be honest with you, it *might* be in a Dragon mag, but most people on here just email the question to him and then post his answer on the forum, so it is possible (I'd say likely) that it's *not* in any issue of Dragon.

Yes, well, they managed to correct the Blackguards seak attack in the DMG errata, and so in the second printing as well, but they, somehow, missed the same error in the Assassin.

OK, well then, does anybody have a copy of the e-mail?

The fact that they had corrected the blackguard but not the assassin was part of what led me to believe the assassin was different.
