Vairar simply stands next to his Lord and Lady. He notices Lunn preparing the shield, but with his long weapon, he has nothing to do, but observe.

Dandin, sensing the growing tensions, hands out apples to everyone who will accept.
"A snack will do us a bit of good while we wait."

OOC: Casing Goodberry, for 10 apples. Anyone of the PCs or NPCs nearby can partake of one for now or later if they wish.

Morgan was hopeful, if he could pinpoint the location of the messenger, he would still have time to scout the castle. Patiently, he waited for the messenger to emerge.

Morgan's eye sat on the street in front of a residence for long enough that the messenger popped into view. Not from that building, but from the intersection between the High Road and the Horse Way, returning from the direction of the Drill Field. He headed north along the Horse Way.

By this time, Tommi had climbed down from Morninglow Tower and Sir Darfin and Sir Isteval had given up on arguing with the castle guards. The Wizards Delfen Yellowknife and Ashfell had arrived, travelling together on foot from Delfen's Tower. Sir Darfin announced to the assembled crowd, "It would seem that we have lost the support of the Duke, which is unfortunate, but our troubles are far too grave to let this be the end of it. I suggest that we reconvene at my townhouse."

He stopped to indicate a fine old building across the Hill Road before adding, "Just give me half an hour to inform my staff."

His sister seemed unsteady on her feet, so she leaned on Lunn and requested that he return her to her room.

OOC: Anything you want to do for half an hour? There's a tavern on the corner...

Morgan wasn't sure if he should pop the invisible eye into the the large manor house as a likely candidate for a message from the Duke but second guessed this since it would have been swifter for the messenger to simply walk down Hill Road to the Manor House (#20) than to take a circuitous route down High Road. Unless the messenger was purposefully trying to shake pursuers. He decided to have the eye peer into each window as it made its way down Horse Way to see if he could catch anyone reading a letter. Or, even, glimpse a letter with the seal of the duck on it. From there, he would inspect the Duke's house to try to learn more.

OOC: just so I'm clear, the messenger disappeared around the corner of Horse Way. He did not go into any buildings on High Road. If I can't find which building the messenger went into, I'll seek out the Duke and spy on him.

With half an hour, Tommi will go back and dress himself properly. Put on his leathers, activate Oh-Six.

He looks around for a more appropriate belt, but he can't find one, and so keeps the one he borrowed.

Lionel returns to the Happy Cow Tavern. He shrugs at his mother when she asked why he was back so quickly.

"Duke wouldn't let us in. Sir Darfin wants to meet with us in half an hour. I'm going to make a snack."

He didn't wait for a response and moved on to the kitchen. He began to cook which always calmed his nerves. This whole thing had him on edge. Nothing had seemed right since he returned home a few weeks ago and this change in the duke was another piece that made him anxious.

"I know that it's not right to say so," said Lionel's mother, "But I never did like that man. Imagine - summoning my son and then changing his mind! Who does he think he is? Shame on him. You know that his sister, Morwen, would have made a much better duke, if only they hadn't honored that silly old law about 'male' heirs. It's 1487 by the Dale, not the 13 hundreds! This town needs to get with the times."

She went on, turning to the price of hops and how it was cheaper to buy it from Goldenfields and caravan it 200 miles than it was to buy from local growers.

Lionel ate his sandwich and nodded at the appropriate places.
