AtG Howling Crag (5e PBP) OOC

Oh, one more:
4) It's autumn and relatively north-ish, so I'm gonna say that sundown is between 6 & 7pm, though the shadows get deep between 5 & 6pm. It's 2pm-ish, so you have about 4 hours before it gets pretty dark in the shade of the peaks. (Though it is a dim day at the best of times)

I have a few things to say:
1) PwoT won't stop you from being spotted from the air.
2) The sun at dusk is behind the western spire (on the left of the map), which will make the gatehouse in its shadow, but not 'sun in the guards' eyes'.
3) Kahru expects that about an hour after dusk is when the wind will be at its calmest. It never totally dies, but it does die-down.
An hour after dusk gives us cover of darkness so that will work too. I’ll edit my post.

I figured PwT would help us approach the gates while it’s dark and help us to be stealthy while climbing around g the outside of the north spire . I figured the flyers would fly low enough that the gorge would break line of sight as they approached the north spire. The north spire is on the right side of the road as you walk towards the keep, correct?

Edit: I edited my post to say, "We will have the cover of darknes.." or something like that.

The only flaw I see to your plan, and your map, is that the Giants keep a line of torches all along the road (on the right-hand, or up on the map) and that they can see from the watchtowers anything directly to the right (and a little way up and down). It's true that where you have drawn the character's circles is pretty much where you would have spoken to Utharn, and therefore out of sight of the gate, but pretty much everything else is in sight of it, including some of what is "off the cliff" (though not all the way to the bottom).

I'm not against your plan! I'm just not sure what part of it is easier, aside from the distance "up", of flying from the gorge to the north (slightly off of your map) straight up & through the 'window'. Only someone looking out the window, or flying overhead, would be likely to see you from there, AFAICT. Is it that you can't get enough people flying?

Donnell and Colonel would be invisible if we snuck towards the gate.

But yeah, I thought the issue was we couldn’t all fly. But with the whistle, 3 of us can have flight, Kharu can shapeshift into a giant eagle and carry the last person (probably colonel so he can cast levitate and jump off the eagle near the window and gently float up or down)

I didn’t realize the whistle cast fly.

This seems the easiest and least resource intensive

Allright folks, I think we just need Donnel (bc he's our leader) to recap the plan IC, and we execute. Then fun & pain begins! Planning is a tough feat in PBP, and many games I've been in have died because we needed a consensus.
We're where we need to be imho, and we'll adapt even if the plan isn't 100% perfect. Let's just go forward so we can start sneaking/fighting/casting/persuading our way thought!
My 2 cents ;-)
Cheers,

SG

I think we should fly in. Knowing now that the whistle casts fly, we can save hours of travel time (I cast Aid several hours ago and will, likely lose it,) Kharu can fly Colonel in since he can feather fall if he happens to fall off.

I will recap IC. If you are against that plan, I will edit. Otherwise, let's move forward.

Edit: I'm just sticking to the plan. We will still have 1 or 2 hours left on my spell and it limits our exposure to the roc. The flyers can just fly up and over the torch light and then down into the gorge to avoid detection.

@FitzTheRuke

So new rules of Heroic Inspiration:

If you receive Heroic Inspiration and already have one, you can give it to someone who doesn’t already have it.

Human trait: receive a Heroic Inspiration at the end of a long rest.

So, does that mean, after all our long rests, since I’ve been full up this whole time, I could have just handed one out to everyone who doesn’t have one?

Not sure where the rule is, but I'm pretty sure that Inspiration resets on a Long Rest. So a human would only have one to give if they get another one during the day. I'm willing to be argued out of that ruling, I guess, but it's how I've been playing it.

That makes sense since it prevents the humans from sharing the love when not adventuring although, from what I’ve read, that’s a UA rule. Losing it will force you to use it instead horde it, which is good. I suppose it depends how ubiquitous you want inspiration to be in your game.
