Avonshar: The PbP game (Full) Game started!

Argent Silvermage

First Post
Hi All,
I'm going to start a D&D PbP game using my home brewed world Avonshar.
The PbP groups actions and the IRL game players actions will be used in both games.
I'm looking for 4 (only 4) Players. Characters are 5th level and based on 28 points for stats. starting gold is 1500GP. (yeah I know that's really low) and there are no magic items to start.
All races are welcome and all classes. Prcs are not allowed until 8th level and then only by my OKing them first.

Avonshar:

The land of Avonshar is a very new land. There have only been sentient life forms here for a little over 500 years. The world was discovered by a band of Planes wanderers. Avon Thistis was the Half Elven leader of this wandering group and a cleric of Fharlanghn The god of wanderers.
He and his band of people were refugees from a host of different Prime material worlds. They found the lush and plentiful land and decided it was paradise.

Avonshar is about the size of Africa and located in the southern hemisphere on the planet. The capitol is Bashad; it is located on the east coast about mid way along the east coast.
Bashad is a huge city and a tribute to the peoples who created her. It has a central library that is also the city hall. Father Thistis and his people were very open-minded and created a land run by scholars and thinkers. There are no “royalty” on Avonshar, no kingdoms.
Bashad is a trading port for all planes. 70% of the populace is from off plane. There are people living and working in the city from just about anywhere. (Not as intense as Sigil by any means but still has the flavor).

Deities: There are no known native gods/goddesses from Avonshar. Fharlanghn has become a greater deity here because it was a band of his followers who discovered the place. All other “Gods” are transplants as well.

Create your Players background with this one thing in mind. The world is still not vastly explored. Your community is not more than a days or so away from Bashad. All player characters are Avonshar natives.

When you say "all" material available, do you mean "ALL"?

I'd really like to play. Is FR or OA material available? How about Monster Manual races? I'll play either way, but I've been wanting to try some OA stuff.

Thanks! :)

I unfortunatly don't have OA. But if you want to play classes from it I don't mind. Same with Forgotten realms.
as for monster classes. Just remember that the level must be 5th. (so if you wanted to do a ranger tiefling you could only be 4th level ranger.)
And keep the mulit classing to a minimum. I can't stand Metagaming.

So no Brb1/Rng1/Ftr3? :p

I will probably do either a Samurai or a Sohei. Not sure what race yet. If it's anything odd, I'll ask to double check.

right. no f@c%ig Munchkining.
Yeah if you choose a monster race it must be OKed by me.

Argent,

Do you assign Hobgoblins an ECL? I think they've have been errata's to +1, though the DMG lists them as +0. I may go with one either way, unless an OA race catches my eye.

Hobgoblin Samurai = Bad A$$. :)

History
Born 21 years ago, Targ was always a very strong child. He got his surname from an incident when he was 6, in which he picked up his fathers hammer and utterly destroyed a bowling ball sized rock in one swing. As he grew, his parents (both human, he doesn't know where his orcish blood comes from) found that he was growing more and more rowdy. He got in constant fights with other children, and one day nearly killed another boy with a single punch. He, and his parents, were so shaken by the event that they immediately sequestered him on the family ranch. There they began to focus his rage into martial prowess. They also attempted to teach him a craft, stone carving, which he took to immediately. As he grew stronger and larger, his father revealed the one item they had of Targ's father, an Orcish Double Axe. Targ continued to train with these, and he had soon become an acomplished fighter, rider and sculpter. His rage now under control, Targ set out on his own to begin exploring, trying to see as much of the world as he could.

Edit: Changed power attack and cleave to weapon focus and weapon specilization, added mighty comp longbow and alignment.
