Hello,
I think the discussion between 3 and Baltar while dealing with the hybrid was meant to be hard to understand. The two characters were speaking at cross-purposes, each becoming focussed on their own concerns, while assuming that the other one was agreeing or conversing with them.
Baltar wants to know if he is a cylon, and is thus focussed on the missing five models.
3 is interested in divinity (we think, death perhaps?) and focuses much more on god vs. gods in the debate.
