Battlestar Galactica {Spoiler Talk} 3/11/05

Truth Seeker

Adventurer
"Hand of God", Episode #110.
When fuel supplies dwindle, the fleet must make an attack on a Cylon-controlled tylium mine.

Cast: Edward James Olmos, Mary McDonnell, Katee Sackhoff, Jamie Bamber, James Callis, Tricia Helfer, Grace Park

Saw last week's, laughed, saw the tension, saw the love *Boomer #2*. Saw the mini-jump, saw the looks, and sawwwww...Number 6 nearly break...down in tears. That was a surprise.

The Cylons has messed up, will get into that later.

Now...BG, the ship...against, the entire Cylon space fleet. I like the odds:cool:

Great episode...There are really no characters that I hate...Olmos is great as Adama, and Adama episodes, in my opinion are the best. I also really like Baltazar...he is just plain evil. I have no idea how this series came from that crappy mini-series, but I hope it does not go the way of Above and Beyond, another series I loved, and just dwindle away...I am anal, in the fact that I need endings. Like the one for NYPD Blue...in the words of Chapelle...."wrap it up"

OK, as much as I like Olmos as Adama I just can't get into this series - it just doesn't grab me.
Also, I am really starting to hate this incarnation of Starbuck.

Obviously, there is something wrong with your television reception. :)

Starbuck may not be the 'hawt-est' woman on TV, but her character's attitude, and badassittude, make her very, um, inspiring.

Just don't tell my wife.

One thing really bugged me about this episode: they've got FTL drive, but they're doing their battle tracking on a tabletop with models?!? C'mon -- while I've done a lot of battle tracking on map boards with little stickies, our digitized TOCs today can do digital battle tracking on a big plasma screen -- no one moving things around on a table with a stick. You'd think that for a space fight they'd have some sort of 3D holo projection or something. Must have been an FX budget constraint.

Kinda saw the hidden Viper bit coming (think they stole this from a Stackpole Rogue Squadron novel or a number of other sources), but at least my thirst for a little Cylon-zapping has been slaked for a while. Now if they're only remake the BSG Pegasus episode from the original series ...

i'm not gonna watch this season till I can either get an entire day of BG (oh, and I need sci-fi channel ... going over to mom's just doesn't cut it, I need geek-alone time) ...

but iirc in the miniseries they explained that BG was created with as few computer equipment as possible so the cylons couldn't tap/overide/hack their systems ... maybe that's why they went with mini's and a board game ... er stragetic table :)

Nope, in the miniseries they state that BSG was state of the art, well state of the art for its time, which was 50 or so years before current storyline. Hence the wired telephones and such.

Adama purposely has not allowed newer tech (read higher end computers) on BSG because the Cylons could take it over. Which is why BSG is still around unlike the other BSs they mention being taken over during the first Cylon attack.

Edit: Weird, Wolf72's post was not showing up when I posted my response.
