Battlestar Galactica {Spoiler Talk} 3.4.05

Chalk me up as another one who says Baltar isn't necessarily a traitor.

But the best part of the whole episode was when Starbuck walked in on Baltar. Wowzers.

The best part of the Baltar character is the "traitor" aspect. His cowardice and guilt over the Cylon attack on the 12 colonies makes him an easy targer for manipulation. But he is weak overall. He wants to do right and not harm others but not before preventing harm to himself.

A fantastic character who is a wonderful foil for the rest of the "good guys." I'm so glad I gave this show a chance. :)

I just love the fact that the president took what the Cylon said last episode and muddled it. She looked around and only saw one Adama to assume it would be. Hmm......nice how Lee ended up being her liason and yet she never thought to suspect him. Right under her own nose. Wrong Adama there El Presidente!!

Baltar is a traitor in that he now has the responsibility of discovering Cylons in the fleet... and has chosen to ignore that responsibility. He could just let someone else do the test. He could just refuse to do the test outright.

But, by decieving the fleet and lying about who is or is not a Cylon, he has betrayed humanity for his own selfish (and lazy!) desires.

Was any reason given why the test now takes 11 hours? In the previous episode he was able to test Boomer's sample in just a few minutes.
We don´t know if it didn´t last 11 hours then. Maybe Boomer gave him the sample and he startet it, telling her to come back a few hours later. or she was there the whole time (though I doubt that, since she certainly doesn´t have 11 hours of spare time...)

It´s at least not a clear continuty mistake...

Maybe Gaeta (or someone else) will eventually be able to be trained to do the testing, too. I guess they first want to check the command staff / political leadership, and then they need to test possible co-workers for Baltar. It´ll take its time...

I wonder what Baltar would do if that ever happens... (Or if it never happens, what he did do to avoid it)

MR got it down - not really an error, just not exactly spelled out.

The problem for us is this - Other than Boomer we won't know who is Cylon. We did not get to see Ellen or Adama's "color."

Anyone think it was funny is just before Baltar drop pants the parent warning aired as the station came back from commerical.

Great episode! We Tivoed it and I just got to watch it last night. :)

I have found one thing I don't like though. The president seems to go from being very smart and sturdy to very naive. In an episode from a little while ago, the Doctor is accused of being a Cylon. Without hesitation, she tells him his actions are deplorable and may the Gods have mercy on his soul.

Then, last night, she goes on a witch-hunt to prove Commander Adama is a Cylon. All because another Cylon told her that Adama was one.

She just seems to be very quick to believe that a person is a Cylon even though, to me, it goes completely against the grain of how she makes decisions.

This is probably my favorite episode to date. It really brought home how much the show helps you care for the characters (anybody else cringe when Tigh started drinking, again?) and lightened the dark mood with some well needed humor.

I personally don't think that either Adama is a Cylon, but I'd put my money on Apollo over the commander any day of the week.

That being said, I think Ellen is almost *assuredly* a cylon - but it could be that the writers were just playing up the suspicion.

Only time will tell.

All I know is that I can't wait to see more! Next friday can't come soon enough!

My theory is that no known people are Cylons, although there's no current evidence to support or deny the theory. In order to do so, they'd need to grab all memories from the subject, and get the emotional reactions and abilities down just right.
