A Beard of the Forest loses the following abilities:

2 - Elbow of Justice
3 - Steel Fan Kick
5 - Stand Like a Stone Wall

And gains the following abilities:
1 - Bearded Beast - A Beard of the Forest maintains their beard while in wildshaped form.
2 - Beard Nest - A Beard of the Forest gains an additional animal companion of diminutive / fine size that lives in their beard.
3 - Beard of the Brave - A wildshaped Beard of the Forest wielding their beard as an unarmed strike deals double damage on a charge against an unbearded opponent.
5 - I am Beard, Hear Me Roar - A wildshaped Beard of the Forest may, as a swift action, roar through their beard which diffuses the roar in an eerie way. A single opponent within 5' must make a Will save at DC 15 + Con modifier or become frightened for one round.

Why thank you, that was most useful!

Edit: So, the beard now grants Improved Grab and, at level three, automatically hits if you land two unarmed attacks on the same target.

A note on beards and the rules

Dungeons and Dragons does not cover facial hair very well from a mechanical point of view. To help a player or DM who decides to use this prestige class, I would like to talk about how to address the beard in many situations that may arise....

I must congratulate you on your modesty and tact! But it must be stated plainly:

D&D's lack of clarity on facial hair (carried over through multiple editions) has long been a source of intense dissatisfaction among players and refs alike. This important prestige class has provided an opportunity to patch up gaping holes in the rules.

I've actually been thinking about Chuck, and may name an ability in his honor.

The name will be "Only another fist" and it will allow the Warrior to use his beard as an unarmed strike.

I think the main reason I don't like it is based on how piss poor it's written. I mean, it's just poorly thought out and it's an incredibly tired meme.

Sure, it's a joke character and it doesn't really require any semblance of balance or anything but as a joke all it does is pander.

However, despite your shoddy excuse for "game design" and all the rectal suction that comes with it.. did you stop to think about what breaks this character?

Consider your Con bonus to AC... You don't need four levels of the class to double the con bonus. You need two.

This "prestige" class shares virtually the exact same entry requirements as Fist of the Forest.... and buffs almost the exact same things.

Far be it for me to call this a cheap ripoff *cough*... but when i can take five prestige levels and TRIPLE my AC bonus from Con

Beard:
1. Con from Dex
4. Con instead of Wisdom

FoF
1. Straight bonus from Con

And because your bonuses aren't especially clear "Monk Bonus to AC?"... does that mean replacing the Wisdom Bonus to AC... or the level based bonus to AC?

Regardless... it's just a shoddy excuse for a prestige class from a guy that's clearly bought his own press.

Call it sour grapes if you like, but after reviewing the class it's not hard to see how it could be done SO much better.
