My vote goes with Rokugan (L5R).

It's not as generalized as many other worlds, but it has a strong focus and rich history. The strong Japanese theme might not be for everyone, but it's a fun world to play in.

Voted for "ENWorld Hosted Setting", meaning Umbragia. I think that it is a nice change from those "standard" fantasy settings with orcs and elves and stuff. Also, I fear I might get fired as editor if I vote for anything else (not that I get paid or anything;)).

Not fired... just demoted :)

(just kidding! sheesh!)

Mine, of course. Well, maybe not the best in actuality, let's be honest; but it's the one on which I have worked the most and where I could have put some ideas that pleased me (and some that don't pleased me so much, but that I put in nonetheless).

It's the best, because I can warp it and change it as much as I want without shame, and because there's nothing in that is a leftover from 2e or another obsolete legacy. It's also the best because I can surprise my players easily with it. And I can avoid complaints like "hey, but NPC Y should not behave like that, he is strongly chaotic good".

To sum it up: a small continent (less work :p ) an "original" cosmology (each plane, except the transitive, is a planet: the "Earth" is the material, the "Moon" is the divine plane, there's a planet/plane of Faeries... Not finished yet, as I'm still tinkering with it), less manicheism than usual, no drows (the evil elves are the high elves, and they rule nearly everything... for now), more importance given to "wondrous beasts" like dragons or sphinxes (I mean, the common man may meet one for another reason than because he's a protein source), conscious places, and swashbuckler goblins.

My vote goes to the Kingdoms of Kalamar. The setting is well thought out, well organized, and well supported - moreso, IMO, than any of the other settings listed.

The setting does not suffer from the overbearing indulgence of WotC (the Forgotten Realms), nor the complete neglect of Greyhawk (which I would love to vote for, but because of WotC's shoddy treatment of the setting, I simply cannot do so).

Kalamar avoids the pitfalls that many find distasteful in the Realms, and provides setting support that Greyhawk sadly lacks.

The Scarred Lands are interesting, but the setting is not to my taste.

Great Poll, BTW
