Break of Dawn [Manzanita judging] COMPLETED

"In my opinion you're right. These people, by their own admission, don't know the place we're going to explore. And what better guide could we have than a druid?" affirms Odno.

You decide that taking off on your own is the best course of action. Not long after that (it is rather late by this time after all) you retreat for the night and wake up early to get the most out of the day. The innkeeper serves you a normal yet tastefull breakfast and you set off into the woods.
ooc: any changes in marching order, rest cycles etc. ? You plan to travel the woods usig survival i presume?

ooc: How do you intend to speak with animals? the spell only lasts for 1 min/level? Anyway, Survival will do.

You make your way through the forest. Along the way you see various signs of human activity in the forest: lumbered trees, some traps and a small charcoil furnace. Quarion navigates you through the forest and you fele that he is leading you more or less in a straight line away form the village.

Somewhere in the afternoon Quarion notices a strange plant hanging over his intended path. It seems out of place, as of it is growing on a tree branch instead of being a part of the tree itself.

"Careful. It could be some kind of killer plant or something," Aletheia cautions, "Probably not, of course, but with druids, best to be safe. Shoot it from long range and see if it reacts?"

"Most plants I've seen up to now were growing on pots." admits Odno. "In what way is this particular specimen out of the ordinary, Quarion?"

Odno remembers in this moment his crossbow and loads it.

Quarion does his best to identify the strange plant from a distance. "It is difficult to tell from here, but I dare not move closer to find out. We can simply walk around it. Come." Quarion would rather leave the thing alone than attack it unprovoked.

Eanos nods. "If it's rooted, there's no need to risk ourselves engaging it," he says in agreement. Still, as he steers his horse wide of the growth, Eanos keeps his sling ready and his eyes and ears perked for signs of more plants, or anyone who might have set it as some sort of natural trap.
