Round 375: JJ takes a tail AoO as Livox approaches and misses (rolled natural 1).

Livox misses as well (rolled 33-7).

JJ starts round 376.

OOC: I'm thinking a d4 for attack rolls, and d20 for breath recharge, may give me more hope. Mercy.

Let me know if this is legal: Jibba will full attack, then 5' glide north and plummet into the drink. If the 5' 'step' isn't kosher, he'll just squeeze so that he falls into the water and misses the ground.

That move is fine, but Jibba is out of claw reach.

Round 376

Jibba misses with bite and tail (best missing roll 38), but wing buffets twice (rolled 43 and natural 20; 27 for failed crit) for 22 points of damage. Livox has 167 HP remaining.

As Jibba plummets into the water, Livox's tail AoO connects (rolled 39-7=32) for 28 points of damage. Jibba has 155 HP remaining.

Jibba takes 2 points of non-lethal damage from his fall into the water, and sinks 30 feet, unless he gets a swim check as a free action to stay afloat, in which case he does stay afloat (unless he does not want to do so). What have we been doing regarding this, and also, does a flying creature get to use its flying speed as a base when computing swim speed?

I would not give him a free action to swim, but maybe drop him to -15Z, half of his falling distance through the air (with a cap of -30Z if he had fallen more than 60 feet).

The ground speed should be the basis of any swim speed calculations.

Livox being a creature of fire is not about to go plunging after.
he will land at 90n40e, keeping one eye on the foe, and cast [sblock]cure serious wounds[/sblock]

Jibba will attempt to flounder about.[sblock]Try to get to 105n80e-5z (so his head is out of the water) and cast Shield (I think that's on his spell list).[/sblock]

Jibba[sblock]You are trying to flounder too far. As a move action, you may swim one quarter of your land speed (40 feet), for a grand total of 10 feet. If you want to do that and cast the spell, which you do have, you would have to swim straight up. Even as a full round action you could not get as far as you want to.

Is it most important to have your head out of the water, or to travel west, or a little of both at the expense of not being able to cast your spell?[/sblock]It is still Jibba's turn.
