CL Class

I agree with the previous posters that it is allowing you to create a more powerful character.

However, if you HAD to have the feats maybe you could do this.

The regular characters neeed 10,000 xp to advance ot 11th level. ANd then 11,000 to advance to 12th and 12,000 to 13th. You, the ECL +3 guy, should not advance to 10th until they reach 13th. In a nutshell you are paying 33,000 xp now so that they can catch up with you. After they are 3 levels ahead you would advance normally again.

Just a thought,

thanks guys, the main objective of my previous post was to clarify the ...
He says he'd be weaker if he starts behind
statement from tagore. I never said that. I just said told him about the feats/starting-at-10-lvl-fighting-style-concept and he misinterpretated that. And thats all.

but then i started explaining our conversation just to introduce the "TWO" :D :D questions i wrote later...

I am not trying to convince him of anything, the conversation I described was just...well, an amicable conversation.

CrGreathouse, my first question came up when i started thinking about the fact that theres no restriction in the rules in the FRCS about a 1-lvl group starting with a drow, a svirfneblin and elves and humans...because the drow and the svirfneblin would take more time to reach next levels and the power discrepancy between them and the other races would soon disappear...
The "first and a 1/2 question" should be about this ECL+3 "cap", if you think that theres is a REAL problem about tolerating this difference when starting a game.

Recently we started weekly game with a human (ME), a gnome, and a pixie, all 1st lvl, and I think that its doing pretty well, were are reaching 3 lvl now and the pixie still has only 9 HP and is still on 1st lvl. all the players are happy about it, so no problemo.

The rules state that a character shouldn't have a race with ECL higher than 0 unless the DM would allow characters of level (character level + ECL modifier). Why have a purposely unbalanced situation (knowing it will right itself eventually) when you could have it balanced from the start?

If the DM is fine with it and the players are fine with it, who am I to disagree? Still, it makes no sense to me to unbalance when balancing would be easy (give the human more starting levels than the drow, etc.).

Oh, and it's CRGreathouse - Charles doesn't start with Cr. :D
