CLOSED: Dreaming Beyond Reason (3.5 Greyhawk)

Vindicator, looking at Rayex’s character made me realize I didn’t post the stats for my familiar, so here it is:

Gribbler (Toad familiar)
Diminutive Magical Beast
Hit Dice: 1D8 (4 hp)
Initiative: +1
Speed: 5 feet
Armor Class: 16 (+4 size, +1 Dex, +1 natural armor), touch 15, flatfooted 15
Base Attack/Grapple: +0/-17
Space/Reach: 1 foot/0 feet
Special Qualities: Amphibious, Low-Light Vision, Improved evasion, share spells, empathic link (up to 1 mile)
Saves: Fort +2, Reflex +3, Will +4
Abilities: Str 1, Dex 12, Con 11, Int 6, Wis 14, Cha 4
Skills: Hide +21, Listen +4, Spot +4
Feats: Alertness

Also, on my character sheet under feats, I should have down that I get Alertness, and under skills I should list my modified Spot and Listen checks (total +3 on both), while Gribbler is within arm’s reach (I generally keep him in a loose pocket).

If you start a character thread in the Rogue’s Gallery, I’ll compile this and my character stats and equipment into one message, so you can find everything more easily.

Hey. johnsemlak. One thing I noticed about your character is you have Power Attack, but a Base Attack Bonus of 0. You know Power Attack only lets you take a minus to hit up to your BAB, so it won't be useful until you advance a level, right?

If you already knew that, just ignore me being a buttinski. :)
Hmm, well I had taken it mainly as a prereq for later combat feats; I'll think about it.

Character Background:

Hamras of Karin-Kurr grew up a poor peasant in the village. He lost his parents at a young age and was brought up by a local village priest. The boy took to the priest's teachings and was impressed by some stories he was told of some of the great warriors against evil. When he came of age, he wished greatly to become a servant of Heironeous to these ends, but the priest of Karin Kurr felt that the village could not offer the training Hamras required, so he sent him to a temple of Heironeous in (a large city). There Hamras was instructed in the ways of the warrior-priests of Herioneous.

Hamras recently heard of the evils which had befallen Karin Kurr and returned to hsi home village to help in what way he can. He longs to meet the priest who raised him almost as a son.

UPDATE
Thursday morning

Just changed thread titled to CLOSED. As in, closed to recruitment. We've got our party!

Here they are, in all their glory:

Rhodan, Human Wizard (player: Telsar)
Viviana, Halfling Druid (female) (player: Rayex)
Terrance, Gnome Rogue (player: Cannibal Kender)
Greyore Silverson, Dwarf Paladin (player: FerretGuy)
Hamras, Human Cleric (player: Johnsemlak)

Now if you gents will excuse me, I'm going to spend a few hours poring over your characters, adding up stats, counting coins, etc. Friday morning we'll begin over in the Playing the Game forum.

If there are problems with any of the characters, or any missing information, I'll indicate it at the end of the first game post tomorrow and we can fix things up as we go. No sense in holding up the game any longer--the children are dying, dammit! :p

I'm pumped. Watch for the game thread tomorrow a.m.

Oh, and the usual rules apply: no double-posting, try not to edit after you've posted, lest your edit change what another character would have done, and metagame information, including questions to DM, go in [square brackets] after your character's post. Let's also stick to the Queen's English, proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling, as much as possible.

See you tomorrow...

Hey Vindicator, after I posted Gribbler's (my familiar) stats, I thought he could use a background. Feel free to ignore this bit of fluff, if you want.
And I'm assuming player's dictate the actions/thoughts of their animal companions or familiars. If that's not the case, and you want to decide things the Gribbler does in game, that's fine with me.

Background/Personality: Gribbler was born. Gribbler grew legs. Gribbler ate flies and slugs and mosquitos. Gribbler avoided bigger creatures. That was pretty much Gribbler’s life, and one day, he failed to avoid a large snake, and figured his time was up (he was pretty practical about such things). But before he could be gobbled up, a crossbow bolt skewered the snake in the head. And then a larger creature scooped up Gribbler and he wondered if it made much difference what the size was of the thing that was about to eat him. But, oddly enough, the larger creature didn’t eat him, instead taking him to it’s home, where it wiggled it’s appendages and made weird lights, and suddenly something... changed.
Gribbler felt stronger, healthier, smarter. And he also felt something else; the emotions of this larger creature. It wanted Gribbler to help him. How he could help more than providing nourishment, he hadn’t a clue. But he clearly needed help... all these emotions made no sense. The larger creature was lonely. Well, Gribbler had been alone as long as he could remember, and it was no big deal. And the larger creature felt persecuted and feared those around him. Even before getting smarter, Gribbler knew we are all going to get eaten by something bigger some day, why feel bad about it? Yes, this creature definitely needed help. And since this creature could keep things from eating Gribbler, at least until something came along big enough to eat them both, it was worth hanging around. Now if he could just teach Rhodhan (the larger creature) to calm down and take life more easily...

Heh heh...it's excellent. It'll take some time before Gribbler can come into play, though. A familiar must be *acquired* by a Sorcerer or Wizard; doing so takes a 24 hour period and magical materials totalling 100 gp, so Rhodhan isn't in a position yet to have a familiar. It will be possible during the adventure, though, so we'll keep Gribbler's info until then.

Terrance's Equipment

Short bow (30 gp, 2 lbs)
50 arrows (2.5 gp, 7 lbs)
Shortsword (10 gp, 2 lbs
4 daggers (8 gp, 4 lbs)
Backpack (2 gp, 2 lbs)
Bedroll (.1 gp, 5 lbs)
4 Torches (.1 gp, 4 lbs)
Flint and steel (1 gp, 0 lbs)
Rations, x5 (2.5 gp, 5 lbs)
Waterskin (1 gp, 4 lbs)

55 gold used, 35 lbs

Vivianas Equipment:

Backpack 1gp
14 days trail rations 7gp
Waterskin 1 gp
Studded leather armor 25 gp
Quarterstaff -
Sling -
100 bullets 1gp
15 gp

Hey Vindicator. You asked in the IC thread if we want OOC stuff here or there, and I don't care which. Either is fine with me as long as over there, OOC stuff is clearly labelled as such. But in case any of the others do care, I'm telling you my opinion here. :)

Are you going to start a Rogue's Gallery thread? If you did, we could update our characters more easily when we need to. But I'm fine without one.
