Add to that the Fiend Folio, the Book of Vile Darkness, Draconomicon, the Libris Mortas (or whatever they're calling it) and probably The Planer Handbook. Plus you could throw some "evil type" templates around and use the Book of Exalted Deeds.

All told we have about five to seven "monster" books and after all the the "Complete" books are out, four PC books. That's not even counting FR stuff or the new environmental line will probably have some monsters in it also.

Let's not forget Manual of the Planes. That had an extensive bestiary. I imagine The Planar Handbook will as well. Oh, and the Minis Handbook had lots of critters too.

Theres the races of .... books as well, id hohpe that these include just as much for DMs as players. And all the stuff for making uber PCs can just as easily be used to make uber NPCs, in some cases its easier, such as frenzied berzerker, i wudnt want to be in the same party as one but im quite happy throwing them at parties as an NPC

While it's true that the "crunch" can be used by the DM as well, that all misses the point. I'm tired of books with just rules and stats. How about some ideas? Like generic story arcs, helpful conspiracy plots, stuff like that. The "fluff" in otherwords. That's what is missing. Not just infinate books of tables, charts, and rules.

Dragon and Dungeon magazines. Campaign settings. Some of the sidebars and monster descriptions in the Fiend Folio.

Cheers!

Ie got to agree with merric, i find many of the "fluff" whilst valuble far more suited to Dragon, Dungeon, etc. Whilst i like it i probably wouldnt buy a purely fluff book, stuff like the final chapter in complete warrior and probably the other complete books is useful and contected with with the "crucnch" provided and this is goos but most of the other stuff id rather make up myself such as encounters, plot arcs etc. means it dovetails with the campaign better

Another great source of "fluff" is fantasy fiction. Particularly non-D&D fiction. There are an awful lot of authors out there who have developed detailed worlds, ecologies, economies, plots, and story arcs. As an added benefit, the "research" is entertaining. :)
