D&D General Creating a Pride Flag for my D&D setting

Pride comes from overcoming challenges.

A person can be proud of ones own accomplishments. A person can be proud of being a member of a group that has achieved accomplishments.

Being is a good relationship is something to proud of. It is a challenge to find a compatible partner, to maintain the relationship thru difficult times, and to build a family together. This is what the elven Revelry celebrates. To not take family and friends for granted.

To stand up for who oneself is. To explore and discover who oneself is. To build a life for oneself and those around one. These are challenges to overcome. These are successes to be proud of.

The term "homosexual" assumes a binary understanding of sex.

Here, one is either male or female, thus either sexually attracted to the "same" sex (homo) or else the "other" sex (hetero).

This binary assumption fails under scrutiny. For example, intersex is both male and female, or neither, so the terms "homo" and "hetero" become less meaningful for an intersex person.

In elven cultures where the diversity of sex is more clearly understood, neologisms might clarify.

I suggest the following terms.

Androsexual - sexual attraction toward a man, whether oneself is man, woman, intersex, or so on.

Gynosexual - sexual attraction toward a woman.

Androgynosexual - sexual attraction toward the hermaphroditic sex that has both male and female organs.

Mesosexual - sexual atraction toward the intersex sex that blends male and female.

In addition to,

Polysexual - sexual attraction toward more than one sex.

Pansexual - sexual attraction to all sexes.

Just popping into the thread with a fun fact - the deity Jazirian, known as the patron deity of couatls and possible foil of good and wisdom versus the evil and cunning of Asmodeus, is canonically gender fluid, with male and female aspects in published history.

The symbol of a couatl as such could also be a symbol of LGBTQ+ pride used on flags if drawing on established DnD lore.

Practically how does that work? i.e.You meet an elf, how do you know the elf is carrying both sets of junk?
Any member of the House of Corellon can shapeshift into any bodily sex, gender-identity, and-or gender-expression.

Some of these members prefer to have androgyne body, with functioning male and female organs, at least times. Some of these androgynes might prefer to wear clothing that combines masculine fashions and feminine fashions into an esthetic style. But others might prefer other clothing styles for other reasons.

During the year, only the person who the androgyne is dating tends to see all of the anatomy. Whether it is polite to ask about the current anatomy depends on the particular culture.

But at the annual Revelry, each Elf celebrates ones own identity and the identities of friends and family. Typically, each Elf selects colors from the Elven Pride Flag to represent oneself. For example, an androgyne can display both purple for female anatomy and aqua for male anatomy.

If I understand correctly Jazirian is a Couatl androgyne.

Corellon themself is more about gender-fluidity, shifting across different anatomies fluidly.

Then, Jaziran could be of interest to those Elves who specifically prefer the androgyne body, in a more persistent way.

It seems Jaziran is no longer alive, but Qotal now exhibits their aspects as something like a reincarnation.

Jaziran and Qotal are ultimately the aspect of the World Serpent, albeit a specific aspect that is now autonomous and androgyne. The World Serpent encircling the cosmic ocean to bite ones tail is a symbol of the Self (compare the Jungian collective unconscious). An androgynous ouroboros with wings − a Coutl biting their tail − is an emblem of Jaziran.

Jaziran fits well within elven sensibilities because there is no worship. Coutls revere Jaziran as an actual ancestor, similar to how the Elves revere Corellon as an actual ancestor. Some Elves may have a personal friendship, appreciation for, and feel affinity with Jaziran.

Arguably Jazirian's aspect was slain, not necessarily the main body. It can be surmised that Qotal filled in to watch over her followers on Toril while she recovered her strength, because there may be multiple worlds where Jazirian must spread her attention to.

The World Serpent may be more of a mythological idea than an actual being.

Jazirian converted refugee remnants from one of the creator races into the couatls, not necessarily but possibly the first couatls, though the presence of couatls on Eberron and the theoretical possibility that the Ahriman-Jazirian legend of creation has some truth to it may mean that Jazirian created the couatls on Eberron as a guardian race to protect a prototype for the second multiverse project (4e - first one was the Lattice of Heaven).
