I am ok with any of those options. I admit to being slightly biased toward anything that connects to Drone.

What do you think your posting rate will be? We could really use a fighter of some species--particularly a Planes-savvy character--but whether I feel good about adding an additional player depends in part on whether the poster is able to make daily posts. For example, I didn't post for most of Saturday and Sunday in the IC this past weekend, and lost a number of opportunities to contribute. This group posts at a fast clip. Blink and you miss a lot. Well, right now, at least. This is PbP, so the posting rate could and probably will vary. I guess this is where I ask you how much you think you'll be posting here?Quickleaf said:. . . the group is already large, and too many players can slow down a PbP game (especially during combat).
Agreed. I think a planar familiar would be nifty. Of the three choices you offered, I like the sentient wise-cracking spellbook the best. I like that the spellbook is playful, and that it offers Graydon the opportunity to expand his repertoire of spells. Helping Graydon helps the group, so mo' spells is mo' bettah. Plus, BOOK. Like, cool, man. It's like Tom Riddle's diary all over again. What's not to love about that? I imagine the sentient book could also be hijacked as a plot device and used by the DM, too.Quickleaf said:Idea #1: Graydon's Familiar (non-combat role) . . . Since I'm experienced with the Planescape setting, I'd rather play a role which allows me to take advantage of that, so probably not a clueless animal from the prime material world...something planar would fit me best. I am also somewhat experienced with Mystara, so perhaps I could play some planar being from that campaign setting...
It's hard to resist this character concept; I'm a sucker for cussing. The f bomb is my favorite word. It's got a fascinating etymology. The bilabial "f" sounds great. It's one syllable. It multitasks. It's connotative. I adore it. Please tell me you'd use a shi-t ton of f bombs if you go this route.Quickleaf said:Idea #2: Mimir (non-combat role) . . . unless provoked, in which case it has a mouth fouler than a harpy drunk on rotgut.
This idea is creepy as hell. I love it. It might also work super really well if you think you prefer to post less often. Playing the NPC villain would allow you to cameo for spurts of time, then be vacant for stretches when/if you had other things going on.Quickleaf said:Idea #3: The Technocrat (recurring rival "NPC")[,] Planescape is a world of shifting alliances, and one of the interesting things is sometimes having to deal with NPCs you really would rather fry with a fireball. A perfect foil to the party would be Lawful Evil, an enemy to the Dustmen & undead, and opposed to magic and the fey. Basically a materialist. Some kind of ruthless planar pragmatist who espouses a philosophy that only life today matters, and that delaying gratification for the afterlife is for suckers . . . .
It's your group now, too. The only question is how to best fit you in.Quickleaf said:I'll keep watching this thread for feedback from the rest of your group!
