Spelljammer D&D Direct Live Report: 9am PDT (5pm BST) SPELLJAMMER CONFIRMED! DRAGONLANCE!

D&D Direct, WotC's new video-format announcement show launches today at 9am PDT (5pm BST). If you aren't able to watch it, I'll be updating this article live. Feel free to comment below! I figured since everybody was complaining/arguing on here, I'd recount the ENworld's Greatest Hits on the contested topics I've seen on here. I think I've hit all the notes. Plus I didn't feel like fixing the spelling era there when I meant to type sun.

So. Pages are worth $50. Cool. Now factor in the double-sided map ($10-15) and the DM‘s screen ($10-15) and the slipcase ($10-15). Awesome. So. A product that’s going to retail at $70 is worth at least $80 if not $95.

Any chance you will nope out instead of venting spleen all day?

That was actually the other half of why I didn't fix it after making the error.

A few dozen or a hundred or one-fifty pages probably doesn't add to the cost that much (book experts correct me if I'm wrong, but I'd like number if so)

Just zzoming in on this point, I can't give a number for what sort of deal WotC might get through Hasbro printing because I assume that they are getting some good mass deals but also print in the USA, which raises costs for things like "labor." However, the style they print in is in 16 or 32 page sectionals, that cost for each section. Doubling the page count literally doubles the print costs, from everything I have ever seen, though I'm sure there are people here who can comment more directly. $20 for a sturdy 64 page title with good binding and art contents is fair.

I really can't fault you for any of your frustration, it makes sense.

Look at the Essentials Kit for what Perkins can do briefly. Probably similar to what we will see here. Series of mini-modules, Star Trek planet of the week style.

This is all the content for the new box set Stormwreck... and all for $20. That's an absolute steal, and I hope it's a little evidence that WotC doesn't have to release content exclusively at $70+ price points.

I see about a third of the content, for a third of the price. The dice are worth about $7, which is what the official D&D dice at Target are sold for separately, as opposed to the $25 DM screen.
