Eh, most people only hate candy corn because Twitter told them they were supposed to.

Candy corn is delicious. Especially when mixed 50/50 with salted, roasted peanuts.

I hated candy corn before Twits were a thing.

And I think I need tongue bleach. Doing that to poor defenseless salted roasted peanuts. Will someone think of the nuts?!

I love candy corn. I have a lot of dietary sensitivities and candy corn doesn't bother any of them.

I even once infused whiskey with candy corn and it was pretty good in an Old-Fashioned:

As for relating this all to D&D, don't think there's much comparison, other than some people like one thing, and others like something else.
