This poll was inspired by the thread about DM's changing campaigns frequently. I am wondering... DM's: What is the highest level your PC's have ever reached in one of your campaigns? Please feel free to make any comments you wish as well.

DM

Edit: Sorry for the typo on the poll.

My campaign started in June of 1992 and has run every other week since then. The surviving highest lvl character just hit 21st lvl, and was started in early '93.

I'll assume you mean in 3e...

Our group once made it as high as ~27th level IIRC. You certainly learn alot about the mechanics of a game and how the style of game changes over the course of a long, long campaign. I can understand why campaigns tend to be shorter rather than longer in 3e. The game is the most managable at levels one through perhaps... twelve or so.
I can see how the ever-increasing workload, game style changes and balance issues can turn off some DMs from playing them...

Cheers!

I answered Epic, but really we eventually went Divine. So that breaks the scale here.

The highest I've gotten is a 2nd Edition campaign which lasted about a year and went to about 11th level.

My current game is at about 11th level (started at 5th level) and has taken about 6 months to get there. I'm planning for the game to go into the Epic range eventually, but that will probably be at least another year off.

I had a 2E campaign that went from 1st to epic levels. Those characters were retired when 3E came out until the ELH came out, so I then had what was supposed to be a short four-session game that went from 1st to epic due to characters doing crazy disastrous things that needed to be fixed, growing attached to the characters while doing so, and requesting more adventure for them. Meanwhile, they never completed their original quest...

So anyway, I've had two campaigns that went epic.

Low double digits have been achieved a couple of times.

Both me as GM and amongst my players in general we tend to not enjoy the higher levels. There comes a point where the game feels more like a strange comic book or super hero game influnced by serious pharmacueticals, rather than heroic fantasy for us. 10th level is pretty much our practical limit.
