I voted anything, tho to be clear I mostly allow any 5e official material, Mercer’s Blood Hunter and Gunslinger (though I think it’s underpowered and needlessly wonky, and you would be better off playing a Battlemaster with the gunner feat), and my own homebrew.

I also encourage my players to request homebrew, and will often suggest homebrew. Based on experience, I’m roughly as good as wotc at balancing things for a non “power gamer” game.

Typically anything I have. Might even throw in some 3rd party races and subclasses, but since I'd have to enter them onto DnDbeyond first, it's a bit more of a hassle. Might be something I'd add in if someone came to me asking if I knew of a subclass that fit something they were after.

PHB only at first with allowances of other books dependant on campaign (if I'm running FR it may be SCaG and perhaps one other, if I'm running Greyhawk, it may be PHB Volo's, or I may allow Tasha's if someone asks specifically for certain items from it).

So, I'm that guy that voted homebrew only. Now that's not technically true. I basically will allow any WotC material, and will allow 3rd party stuff on a case-by-case basis. But, I actually HAVE re-written basically every class and race, most feats, and many spells with my own homebrew creations added in as well. While I don't think I'm smarter than WotC, I do think I know what me and my table want better than WotC.

Generally allow for anything official, with a few exceptions. I generally don't like setting specific things, as they might not fit my game, and limit them as needed. The only subclass that's been agreed upon by my group as "busted" is the Echo Knight, with everyone agreeing not to play it, but since I've never actually seen it in play, I really don't know how accurate this is (it seems busted on paper though).

If new, Players Handbook only.

If experienced, any official book, including other settings, but we need to agree how it fits into the current setting.

Unless intentionally playtesting, I dont allow UAs.

I prefer official player features, and minimize homebrewing them. But there are times I have done so, when the official material lacks an important option.

All WotC published hard covers are fair game but not Tasha's custom lineage or (at least to start) Ravenloft Lineages.
Mechanically, the custom lineage and the variant human are about identical.

If the point is to have a different species, I feel both the player and the DM need to agree on how it fits in the current setting.
